(CK Khaw) Its bridle had to be changed at the start, causing a delay. Trainer S Dunderdale was reminded of his obligations to ensure that his horses’ equipment is in good condition.

(R Rueven) Respiratory distress – 1000M/vet.
10 TWENTYSIXTWELVE
(App M Ekdihar) Eased off the heels at the finish.
*When questioned as to the reason being so far back, Jockey J Shankar stated that D’GREAT VULTURE had been leaning to the right on jumping and both he and the gelding had become unbalanced, it was his intention to be running handy-to-midfield position, however, after this incident, he had been rearward. He also advised that the gelding was inclined to lay inwards when ridden forward on straightening. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed that it was lame off fore and as such will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.
*Jockey J Daniel, when questioned, stated that HAVANA, being a fractious horse, was loaded early and due to the protracted delay, had to stand in the stall for a considerable part and had effectively switched off. He was then in a position that he had to ride the gelding from the rear rather than its preferred midfield position.

RACE 4 (R205) MAX TWO STAKES – 1100M (SHORT COURSE)
1 ROCKET PEGASUS
(App WW Cheah) Shifted out over the final 200M. Rider reprimanded.
2 ESTIJAAB
(App S Uzair) Slipped badly at the start, losing considerable ground. Carried outwards and eased near the 150M when ROCKET PEGASUS shifted, then had to be taken inwards to obtain a clear passage. Rider fined RM1000/- for using his whip forward of the shoulder and referred for specific training.
3 NINGALOO
(SU Lim) Inclined to lay outwards over the final 100M.
5 HAPPY MAGIC
(HK Cheng) Eased from ESTIJAAB near the 100M.

(App N Varmah) Rider reprimanded under the provisions of MRA Rule 44(6) for failing to ride to the end of the race.

(J Shankar) Vet exam: No significant finding. Impounded.

(CK Khaw) Drifted out over the final 150M.
Trainer HY Cheng was questioned as to the riding instructions given to the riders of REDOUBT (SU Lim) and CAPONE (J Shankar). He stated that after trialling on two (2) occasions, he was of the opinion that REDOUBT would be best suited by attempting to lead. He further advised that although CAPONE had led and won at its two (2) previous starts, on both occasions, he had instructed that the gelding be ridden handy. Also, that both of those races were Class 5 and in his opinion, significantly inferior to this race. Whilst accepting these explanations, the Stewards reminded Trainer HY Cheng that he is obliged by the Rules to advise of any change to tactical instructions.

RACE 8 (R209) COMBINED CLASSES 2 & 3 – 1300M (LONG COURSE)

RACE 9 (R210) CLASS 4 (A) – 1500M (LONG COURSE)

2 SOUTHERN MAN
(SU Lim) Withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 4:26pm, acting on a request from the trainer due to the vision concern as the horse has monocular vision.
3 ELITE GENERAL
(App AR Raiyan) Fractious in the stalls, injuring App AR Raiyan. Withdrawn at 4:47pm. App AR Raiyan was stood down from his riding engagement for his remainder ride. 1 Starting Stall test.
5 PEER GYNT
(HK Cheng) Raced wide throughout.
10 UNSTOPPABLE TRAIN
(App K Pavinthran) Threw its head on jumping and veered inwards, striking the hind-quarters of ISFAHAN, then took charge and veered inwards dramatically striking the running rail, dislodging App K Pavinthran. App K Pavinthran was stood down from his riding engagement for his remainder ride. 1 Starting Stall test.

RACE 10 (R211) CLASS 4 (B) – 1500M (LONG COURSE)

10 READY TO SMILE
(App WW Cheah) Drifted out near the 200M, bumping with MOMENT OF JUSTICE.
Following the review of the race meeting conducted on Sunday, 13 February 2022, the Stewards, on 16 February 2022, questioned Trainer KF Coetzee and Jockey R Rueven as to the manner in which RULE THE WORLD was ridden in a rearward position.
Trainer KF Coetzee advised that he had not attended the race meeting but had advised Stewards and instructed that RULE THE WORLD be ridden to settle 4th or 5th.. Jockey R Rueven advised that it had been his intention to ride the gelding in this position but it had been unable to follow closer than second last as the pace was “too hard”. He had pushed RULE THE WORLD from the outset and slapped it on the shoulder several times near the 1000M. Further, that due to the heavy rain and the kickback, he was unsure as to his exact position within the race field. He believed that RULE THE WORLD had responded well to his normal style of riding in the straight although again he had been timorous due to the diminished visibility, especially when crossed by READY TO SMILE (App WW Cheah) when that mare shifted out at the 300M.
Trainer KF Coetzee advised that RULE THE WORLD had under performed on an effected track in the past, but stated that he was pleasantly surprised the gelding had run on so well in the straight and considered that RULE THE WORLD may be better ridden in a manner where it is held up in its races.
The Stewards noted the explanations and reminded Trainer KF Coetzee of his obligation to advise the Stewards should he change the instruction as to the manner in which any of his horses are to be ridden.

RACE 11 (R212) CLASS 5 (A) – 1600M (LONG COURSE)

(C Goon) Dwelt at the start, losing considerable ground – 1 Starting Stall test. Raced wide in the middle stages.
