RACE 4 (R212) CLASS 4a – 1300M (C4 lc)

(HS Gill) Bumped on jumping and raced wide throughout. Rider reported the gelding was making respiratory noises. Vet inspection: Broken-winded.

(App T Ammar) Veered outwards at the start, bumping runner. Shifted in, crowding runner at the 1000M. Rider warned that he must straighten his mount if they shift.

The Stewards, today, inquired into Jockey S Ruzaini’s riding of EMPHATIC in this race. Evidence was taken from Jockey S Ruzaini and Trainer R Lines, the rider and trainer of EMPHATIC respectively.
After considering the evidence and also reviewing the performance of EMPHATIC, the Stewards found Jockey S Ruzaini guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge being that between the 1000M and the 700M, he remained in a wide position when he was able to take up an inner position to benefit EMPHATIC.
The Stewards took into consideration Jockey S Ruzaini’s riding record, mitigating factors and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) months, to be deferred, with effect from 6 March 2023 and to expire on 5 May 2023, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

(KC Tham) Slow to begin and impeded shortly after the start, then raced wide.
The Stewards inquired into Jockey S Ruzaini’s riding of INHERIT in this race. Evidence was taken from Jockey S Ruzaini and Trainer HY Cheng, the rider and trainer of INHERIT respectively.
After considering the evidence and also reviewing the performance of INHERIT, the Stewards charged Jockey S Ruzaini under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge being that the manner in which he rode with regards to his arm action, in particular not allowing his horse sufficient room with his left arm to be able to gallop properly.
Jockey S Ruzaini pleaded not guilty to this charge and was permitted an adjournment to present further witnesses.

Acting on a report from the Senior Veterinary Surgeon that the passport of GOLDEN BLISS was not made available for inspection, the mare was subsequently withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 1:50pm. Trainer KC Tiang was fined RM1000/- under MRA Regulations 10.1 & 10.3 for failing to produce GOLDEN BLISS’ passport for inspection.

(M Ewe) Shifted in passing the 900M, crowding numerous runners. Rider suspended. *(See Report). Inclined to lay inwards near the 250M, bumped and crowded runner on its inside. Vet inspection: Cut near hind – Vet exam.

(L De Souza) Restrained to avoid heels when tightened near the 850M.
At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey M Ewe (FANTASTIC ECLIPSE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) for shifting in approaching the 900M causing several horses to check and to be restrained.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey M Ewe’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of three (3) Malaysian race days with effect from 27 February 2023 and to expire on 11 March 2023, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

The Stewards inquired into the check of TRINITY FLYING near the 800M. It was established that ULURU was racing in close proximity to TRINITY FLYING approaching the 800M and bumped with that gelding on two (2) occasions. In straightening, Jockey HS Gill was then held tight on the inside of heels and was unable to alleviate pressure. However, Jockey HS Gill was reprimanded for applying the initial pressure
