RACE 3 (R750) CLASS 5 (A) – 1800M (A LONG COURSE)

(S Ruzaini) Pulled hard in the early stages, threw its head and raced extremely fiercely. As such, rider allowed the gelding to stride into a leading position.

(App R Nuqman) Rider weighed-in approximately 700g overweight and was reprimanded and advised that he must ensure that he rides at his “weigh-out” weight.

11 IRON FIST
(MM Firdaus) Raced wide in the middle stages. As there was no other suitable senior rider available, the Stewards permitted App WW Cheah to replace Jockey J Daniel on SOON YOU THINK as the latter was unable to make the carded weight. Jockey J Daniel was warned that a repetition would lead to a penalty being imposed.

RACE 4 (R751) CLASS 4 (A) – 1500M (A LONG COURSE)

(J Shankar) Severely inconvenienced near the 800M behind a fallen runner.
3 AFALONHRO
(App WW Cheah) Fell when colliding with stricken horse at the 800M. *(See Report). Vet inspection: Cut on the near fore knee – Vet exam.
5 KENG MAK MAK
(J Daniel) Broke down passing the 800M and blundered badly, dislodging rider. *(See Report). Vet inspection: Fractured off fore distal cannon & fetlock – Humanely euthanized. Inquiry into this incident will be conducted at a later stage.

App WW Cheah and Jockey J Daniel were examined by the Club Doctor and subsequently sent to hospital for further observation.

7 HAKUNA MATATA

(L De Souza) Jumped outwards at the start, bumping runner, thereby losing ground.

When questioned as to the reason HAKUNA MATATA had led, Trainer BT Lim advised that he had instructed that the gelding be ridden wherever comfortable and did not foresee it being in a leading division, given that this was his first start over the 1600M. However, given the slow nature of the pace, he was dissatisfied in the manner which App A Suriya had ridden the gelding.

App A Suriya concurred with these instructions and stated that he had wished to ride in a mid-race position, however, HAKUNA MATATA had simply rolled forward into a lead position easily and he had been content to sit outside the leader. The Stewards accepted their explanations.

(J Daniel) Withdrawn at 2:31pm: No suitable rider available.
On inquiry, Jockey S Ruzaini, the rider of MAGNITUDE, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he took MAGNITUDE outwards passing the 200M causing ELITE GENERAL to be restrained, and in turn caused JERAM GOLD to check and bump the hind-quarters of POLO BOY heavily.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey S Ruzaini’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 27 June 2022 and to expire on 16 July 2022, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
