RACE 5 (5 – 1 – 4 – 2)

FRIEND OF HONOR

Trainer Simon Dunderdale has enjoyed a good run this year, currently placed second on the premiership and fresh from another feature win last weekend with Mega Ace taking the 3YO Selangor Sprint Championship. One of the lesser lights in the stable has been one of the most consistent as FRIEND OF HONOR (5) is verging on breaking through in Class 4 company and is a chance to do so in the 1150m contest on Sunday. The five year old has received every chance but was competitive at his past two outings in the grade despite going down as race favorite on each occasion. Another interesting statistic is jockey Bernardo Pinheiro’s record in the opening races at the Selangor meetings recently. In the past seven meetings, barring one due to suspension, Pinheiro has ridden three winners in race one from six mounts. FIREND OF HONOR is a reliable beginner and was successful over the track and distance prior to the class upgrade. EASTERN BARRACKS (1) is dropping in distance from the mile back to the sprint trip but was a 1400m two starts back and looks suited back in “B” Division despite going up 4kg. EASY ON ME (4) is one that deserves a victory following three successive seconds and is on the verge of doubling his carer win tally. AERAS (4) looked sharp in his trial win last Tuesday week and will benefit from the 4kg claim for apprentice WH Lim. SANTINO (9) took out a Class 5 race here two weeks ago but still remains a query after numerous attempts in Class 4 company without a win.

RACE 8 (2 – 1 – 7 – 4)

BANKER’S FAIRY

Another Dunderdale runner looking to break through is four year old ANJOU CROWN (2), engaged in the 1600m Class 4A contest. Still a maiden from twelve starts, ANJOU CROWN (2) appeared one-paced when finishing 3rd in a 1200m Open Maiden on local debut but displayed his true potential when stepping up to the mile a fortnight ago. Heavily backed to start favourite, the gelding fell short by a nose coming from barrier eleven in a Class 4A event and looks primed to break the Malaysian duck this Sunday. PACIFIC FIGHTER (1) finished nearly three lengths behind ANJOU CROWN (2) in that same race on June 6 and is also poised for success following six minor placings in a row from seven starts in the country. The former Australian galloper is overdue for a win and looks perfectly suited from pole position. Former Hong Kong galloper, STORM CHASER (7) looks ready to show his best judging by his last start 3rd when he tried to lead throughout. Third up from the ten month break he should strike in Malaysia very soon. BANKER’S FAIRY (4) broke his Malaysian duck at start number five over 1500m on May 23 defeating WINNING POINT (5) and would not surprise with another forward showing.

RACE 9 (5 – 4 – 3 – 2)

THUNDEROUS

Four year old BANKER’S KINGDOM (5) should utilize his early pace and could be hard to run over in the high grade 1400m Supreme B contest. With two wins from seven local starts, BANKER’S KINGDOM (5) is ideally placed from gate five and will be searching for a winning return following his last start 2nd behind the inform Banker’s Honor, beaten 2.25L. The Buffalo stable owned THUNDEROUS (4) appears to be returning to the form he displayed last year where he netted four victories. The five year old was placed 3rd behind smart types Banker’s Two Six and Antipodean in the Chairman’s Trophy in May and that form line does stack up well against Sunday’s opposition. FILIAL DRAGON (3), a group winner last season has struggled to score in recent outings but can bounce back on the seven-day backup. BIG HEARTED (2) wound back the clock with his familiar turn of foot when scoring at the big odds last weekend. The veteran continues to race competitively at this level and can never be left out of calculations. SACRED BUDDY (1) is third up but can improve on the quick backup from his unplaced run in the Korea Racing Authority Trophy last Sunday.
