Banker’s Amazing (5ch.a.g American Pharoah – Dreams Of Paris by Dreams Ahead) goes to the line on a tight hold

Back in town after two recent trips to Ipoh, Banker’s Amazing led a stable “trifecta” when he outclassed his rivals in the Supreme C – 1400m event at Sungai Besi today.

Trainer Johnny Lim sent the American Pharoah galloper to race in Ipoh – something he doesn’t do too often – in March and it paid off with the five-year-old romping to a 5-1/2-length win in a set-weight event over 1400m.

This came after the Australian gelding had raced four times at his home base with the best result being a third placing in Class 3.

Lim sent Banker’s Amazing up north again a month later but this time in a similar race but over 1600m, he finished third to stablemate Banker’s Kingdom.

Back in action at Sungai Besi, Banker’s Amazing showed the progress that he has made since his last race here in late February to lead all the way today.

Banker’s Amazing surged to the front soon after the jump and never looked back. He went to the line four lengths clear of Grand Avante with Banker’s Pretty coming in third.

“Basically, the soft lead and the front-running tactic helped,” said Lim.

Banker’s Amazing was unplaced in three runs at two but picked up two wins and two placings in eight starts at three in Australia. He has had another six outings at four, managing one more win and one placing. He had one more run at five before landing in Malaysia.

“My instructions were to go to the front but hold him back for a final push in the straight,” said apprentice Farhan Ghazali who brought his tally to 20 for the season with the win.

“He went to the line very well. I was confident before the race that he would win.”
