LIGHTWEIGHTS PRIMED FOR GOLD CUP SUCCESS
The weights are usually a great leveler in racing and a couple of the younger brigade appear well weighted on the minimum in the 1200m G1 Tunku Gold Cup at Kuala lumpur on Sunday.
Three year old MEGA ACE (52kg) draws well and enters the group contest with an ideal preparation culminating with an effortless 2.5 length win in Class 3 company here on February 28. It was the juvenile’s fourth win from six starts and his early pace will be an asset.
DUMA (52kg) draws wide but is capable of scoring at this level judging by his Class 3 win last month on his race track return. Also possessing a quick turn of acceleration, the four year old will go close providing he receives luck from the barrier.
Malaysia’s highest rated galloper, PACIFIC EMPEROR (59.5kg) finished 3rd in this race last year and has maintained good form in the top grades since.
