Four year old galloper, SMART CAT appears on target to break through in Class 4 grade when he steps out in the Bright And Joyful Lunar New Year Stakes at Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.

SMART CAT will be seeking redemption following his unplaced effort over 1400m here a fortnight ago. Sent out as the RM17 favorite, the Ricky Choi trained gelding was coming off a four week before receiving every opportunity to finishing fourth, beaten 5.5 lengths.

SMART CAT has scored twice in seven starts, both wins over 1200m in Open Novice company. Previously placed in Class 4, SMART CAT will carry the top weight of 59kg but does look to be a progressive type in the making.
