An open card is expected at Selangor Turf Club this Saturday with twelve races carded on the day, but Race 4 over 1200 metres presents one of the better bets on the card with Cool Sixty-One who is looking to bounce back to the winners box.

Trained by J Lim and to be ridden by O Chavez, Cool Sixty-One comes into this race in solid form, having recorded two wins and two placings from his last five starts. His most recent run was particularly encouraging — settling well back in the field before producing a strong late surge to finish third, closing ground rapidly through the line and suggesting a win is not too far around the corner for him.

The 1200-metre distance is clearly his sweet spot. Cool Sixty-One has already won five times over this trip, a strong statistic that separates him from the rest of the field in what otherwise looks an even contest. His record over this distance, combined with his finishing speed, makes him well suited to the likely tempo of this race.

Cool Sixty-One appears to have plenty in his favour. If he can settle within striking distance and reproduce his recent closing effort, he should prove very hard to beat. Another runner that is in hot form and could follow up again is Guru Fight – who steps out in Race 8 for the S Dunderdale stable. He has yet to have missed the placings in his last seven starts including his back-to-back wins in his last two starts. The manner in which he has been winning these races certainly stands out that he should be able to follow up once again.

Saturday’s racemeeting is the first of a double header at the Selangor Turf Club as racing returns on Sunday for an eleven race card with 23 races spread across this weekend.
