Duma Impresses In The Rain
9 August 2025, Kuala Lumpur
Ten races were carded for the Selangor Turf Club on Saturday the 9th of August but unfortunately, due to inclement weather, nine of the ten took place including the ACE Geosynthetics Trophy over 1400m which was won by Duma from the F Maynard stable under KC Wong.
The big talking point and favourite in the race was Good Star who returned after finishing second in the Selangor Mile Championship last month and looked primed to go one better today. However, from the widest barrier, it was always going to be a matter of luck in running, working on a yielding track with rain added on top of that. Duma, from barrier five was always going to be able to have a good position but came from further back than Good Star in running to win going away at the finish. Good Star on the other hand was caught deep in the turn, eventually able to sit one out and then decided to make an early move before the top of the straight to go to the outside of the track.

He then proved to be a little difficult as he wanted to hang in and Uzair had to straighten him again, but all the while Duma took the shortest route home, waited for the gaps to open under a patient KC Wong and was able to add another win to his tally and now makes it four wins from his ten career starts. It was also a double on the day for the owners – RC Stable – who had Bold Runner earlier in the day making it two wins in a row since returning from a break.
Once again, AL Da Silva was the shining light with another treble of winners today and was the only jockey with multiple winners aboard The Wild Prince; Cheval Pegasus and Bold Runner. From the training ranks, it was J Ong who celebrated a double with The Wild Prince and Cheval Pegasus and was the only trainer with more than one winner.
Racing returns to the Selangor Turf Club next weekend on Sunday the 17th of August.
