This years’ running of the Piala Emas Sultan Selangor over the gruelling 2000m the 3rd leg of the ever popular Triple Crown Series will see a battle of 14 top class runners in Race 9 at Selangor Turf Club today. The Malaysian Group 1 event is wide open as all the runners has the potential to capture the converted Cup. Looking back on the performance, trainer Frank Maynard’s D’Great Timing has the slight edge capture this classic event. The six-year-old by Good Journey in a tune up effort last start finished a good fourth to stable mate Sacred Empire over 1800m this month. Once again jockey Jackson Low has been given the task to ride D’Great Timing and the combination has the edge of the rest of runners to win. Do not rule out the chances of Davinci and Hussonator both are in good form and could possibly figure out the finish.
Trainer Simon Dunderdable’s Callixtus should score a back-to back victory in Class 3 event over 1200m in Race 7. The six-year-old by Benfica last outing put up creditable performance to beat Sakura Japan over 1400m early this month at this course. Brazilian rider Jose De Souza will team up with Callixtus and is the best bet of the day. Trainer Richard Lines’s Myo should once again put up a good showing in the Open Class event over 1200m in Race 8. The three-year-old by Sweet Orange made a winning debut last outing when led all the way beating Radical Force in a convincing manner this month. Apprentice WW Cheah takes the ride on Myo and should be reckoned with a chance to greet the judges again.
