Trainer SY Lim’s Black Thorn, should rule once again for a back-to-back victory in Class 3 over 1400m in Race 6 at Selangor Turf Club today (Saturday). The five-year-old by Redwood with Jockey HK Cheng on board last week came with a pulverizing run at the closing stages of the race to beat Wow at the shadows of the post to win in a very convincing manner. Jockey HS Gill has been nominated to ride Black Thorn and with a slighter longer trip, it would be the best bet of the day.
Trainer Frank Maynard’s Sattar deserve another chance in the Class 4 (A) event over 1200m in Race 7. Last start, the four-year-old by Star Witness ran a commendable third to Nova Warrior in the Class 4 (A) event over 1100m. Once again Jockey S Ruzaini teams up with Sattar and the pair looks formidable to win this time out.
Trainer Simon Dunderable’s Paltrow (horse no. 8) should make amends in the Class 4 (B) event over 1200m in Race 8. The seven-year-old mare by Thorn Park lost no marks when finished a creditable second to Volante General last week with Jockey HK Cheng astride. Paltrow will be ridden by HK Cheng and will be the racing fans choice today.
