Jockey Chuah – Disqualified

A post-race veterinary examination of SHYAM SINGHA ROY (J Chuah) revealed no obvious abnormality.
At the conclusion of an Inquiry, Jockey J Chuah, the rider of SHYAM SINGHA ROY, pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(8) punishable under MRA Rule 44(8)(a) for failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures to ensure that his mount was given the best opportunity of obtaining the best possible placing.

- after getting a good jump, he took hold of his mount at approximately the 1000M- mark and restrained it continually until approximately the 250M-mark;

In assessing the penalty, the Panel of Stewards took into consideration Jockey J Chuah’s guilty plea, his riding record and mitigating factors. Jockey J Chuah was disqualified from riding in races for a period of one (1) year, effective from Sunday, 3rd July 2022 and to expire on 2nd July 2023, both dates inclusive. He was informed of his right of appeal (7.20pm).
