Jockey Aizat – DISQUALIFIED
RACE 4 (R120) CLASS 4(B) – 1200M, 1ST DAY, SUNDAY, 27TH JANUARY 2019, PENANG JANUARY/FEBRUARY MEETING 2019
At the conclusion of an Inquiry today (17th March 2019) into the running and handling of CASTLE CHOICE in the above race, evidence was taken from Jockey AM Aizat and Trainer HS Lim, the rider and trainer of CASTLE CHOICE respectively.
Jockey AM Aizat was found guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 44(8) as read with MRA Rule 44(8)(a) in that he failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures throughout the race to ensure that CASTLE CHOICE was given full opportunity of winning or obtaining the best possible placing. The particulars of the charge were:-
- That he failed to get a good jump and ride with sufficient vigour to carry out his instructions;
- That he raced unnecessarily wide from the 1000M to the 600M and failed to get a better position in the race;
- That he failed to ride CASTLE CHOICE out with sufficient vigour from the 400M until the 100M;
- That at about the 50M, he unnecessarily restrained the gelding and lost unnecessary ground.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey AM Aizat’s riding record and mitigating factors. He was disqualified for a period of one (1) year with effect from Sunday, 17th March 2019 and to expire on 16th March 2020, both dates inclusive. In addition, he was fined a sum of RM20,000/- (Malaysian Ringgit Twenty Thousand). He was advised of his Right of Appeal (2.00pm).
