SELANGOR TURF CLUB JANUARY MEETING 2019

SUNDAY, 6 JANUARY 2019

STATE OF TRACK: Good

Panel of Stipendiary Stewards:

Mr Marcus J Weedon (Acting Chief Stipendiary Steward), Mr Thanaraja Kasinathan (Stipendiary Steward), Mr Nigel Chong (Stipendiary Steward) & Mr Jarry Chong (Stipendiary Steward).

RACE 1 (R019) CLASS 5 (B) – 1700M (LONG COURSE B)

MUSANG KING (S Mutaza) jumped awkwardly outwards and raced wide in the early and middle stages.

ORION (AM Aizat) was slow to find its stride.

Jockey M Ganeesh, the rider of HK DOLLAR, reported to a Stipendiary Steward post-race that the sole separated from his right boot causing him some discomfort. He therefore eased HK DOLLAR out of the race once his chance had gone.

Jockey AM Aizat, the rider of ORION, reported that his horse was not striding out freely to his satisfaction. When questioned by the Stewards, he further reported that ORION seemed to be moving short on his near fore from approximately the 600M. He added that ORION laid inwards approaching the 400M. A post-race veterinary examination of ORION revealed no significant finding.

NOVA GENERAL (App CK Khaw) which was beaten 21 ¼ lengths, will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again for having a poor performance.

RACE 2 (R020) CLASS 5 (A) – 1700M (LONG COURSE B)

LIM’S MASTER (App A Zaimuddin) was slow to begin.

MR CONNERY (J De Souza) was slow to find its stride.

DEE MAJULAH (App L De Souza) jumped outwards causing GOLD MOSA (AM Aizat) to be crowded to the inside of SNOW DANCER (J Low).

ELITE KINGDOM (HS Gill) showed no pace in the early and middle stages despite being urged.

Approaching the 300M, GOLD MOSA was shifted outwards to obtain clear running.

Between the 300M to the 200M, LIM’S MASTER laid inwards under pressure.

Jockey J De Souza, the rider of MR CONNERY, reported that his horse had produced a disappointing response in the straight. When questioned, Trainer R Lines had nothing to add. The Stewards informed Trainer R Lines that he must report anything that comes to light which may have affected the performances of MR CONNERY today.

RACE 3 (R021) OPEN MAIDEN – 1300M (LONG COURSE B)

D’GREAT PERFECT (R Rueven) was slow to find its stride.

M SEVEN (S Ruzaini) showed no pace in the early stages.

Approaching the 1000M, DETERMINETOSTRIKE (App L De Souza) shied away from D’GREAT RUN (App CK Khaw), which laid slightly outwards, and in doing so, DETERMINETOSTRIKE bumped I AM THE BOSS (AM Aizat). As a consequence, I AM THE BOSS was awkwardly placed on the heels of LAW BY LAW (HS Gill) for a few strides.

At about the 1000M, I AM THE BOSS was crowded between DETERMINETOSTRIKE on his inside and MISE EN GARDE (J Mallyon) on his outside and lost his position.

LAW BY LAW laid outwards between the 600M and the 500M, and at about the 500M, stepped outwards, brushed with MISE EN GARDE and briefly became unbalanced.

Jockey R Rueven, the rider of D’GREAT PERFECT, reported that his horse raced greenly.

SABIK (Z Khairil) which was beaten 20 1/4 lengths, will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again for having a poor performance.

RACE 4 (R022) CLASS 4 (A) – 1300M (LONG COURSE B)

BELLA VELOCE (J Mallyon) jumped outwards and carried its head awkwardly in the early stages. Between the 600M and the 500M, BELLA VELOCE again carried its head awkwardly and was observed to lay outwards. When questioned, Jockey J Mallyon stated that he had attempted a run between SECKILL (App J Daniel) on his inside and FIRST DANCE (App CK Khaw) on his outside but that his mount negotiated the bend with difficulty.

The Stewards also observed that Jockey J Mallyon eased BELLA VELOCE in the last few strides and he was reminded of his obligations under MRA Rule 44(6).

MAIDANZ BEAUTY (S Ruzaini) was slow to begin.

GOOD DEAL (S Mutaza) was slow to find its stride.

BRILLIANT DEAL (A Aucharuz) over-raced between the 1000M and the 800M.

RACE 5 (R023) CLASS 4 (A) – 1300M (LONG COURSE B)

METALLOCENE (S Ruzaini) was slow to begin.

At about the 1200M, PARISBAS (HS Gill) was awkwardly placed on the inside of BIG LIGHTNING (M Ganeesh) which laid slightly inwards, and as Jockey HS Gill attempted to check PARISBAS, the gelding commenced to over-race.

SUPERSTARDOM (J Low) laid outwards between the 600M and the 400M.

Approaching the 100M, BIG LIGHTNING was briefly crowded as SEGAR THE BEST (App J Daniel) laid inwards.

HARVEYWALLBANGER (App L De Souza) which was beaten 19 lengths, will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again for having a poor performance. A post-race veterinary examination of HARVEYWALLBANGER revealed no significant finding.

RACE 6 (R024) OPEN MAIDEN – 1300M (LONG COURSE B)

MERCHANT MARINE (App A Suriya) jumped outwards and brushed with GOD’S FATE (App L De Souza). Immediately afterwards, LINING TOGETHER (App CK Khaw) laid abruptly outwards causing MERCHANT MARINE to be crowded on the inside of GOD’S FATE.

Shortly after the 1200M, GOD’S FATE was buffeted by MONEY MONSTER (App J Daniel) and TOM KING (R Rueven) was crowded to the inside of GOD’S FATE.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey AM Aizat, the rider of SATELLITE GOLDEN, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he allowed his mount to cross MONEY MONSTER causing him to be taken inwards thus causing interference to GOD’S FATE.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey AM Aizat’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. Acting on the provisions of MRA Rule 48(5), the Stewards deferred the commencement of his suspension. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 14 January 2019 and to expire on 20 January 2019, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

Approaching the 1000M, Jockey HK Cheng, the rider of D’GREAT MAGIC, took evasive action to avoid the heels of MONEY MONSTER which was unbalanced in the earlier incident and laid outwards. D’GREAT MAGIC then brushed with PREMIUM RUSH (App S Uzair).

Between 1000M and the 800M, SATELLITE GOLDEN (AM Aizat) over-raced in response to being restrained in second place behind TOM KING.

Approaching the 500M, PREMIUM RUSH laid outwards and ran wide on the bend.

MONEY MONSTER which was beaten 23 1/4 lengths, will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again for having a poor performance.

JUBILATION (App CK Khaw) was slowly away.

NINETYSEVENEMPEROR was observed to over-race in the middle stages.

Between the 500M and the 400M, JUBILATION was held up for clear running.

At about the 400M, DAHEES (Y Aify) laid in briefly and slightly brushed with BURN NOTICE (App J Daniel).

Approaching the 300M, PERFECT RUN (App WW Cheah) was shifted outwards for clear running and in doing so, took the ground of BURN NOTICE which was eased to avoid his heels.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, App WW Cheah, the rider of PERFECT RUN, in the presence of his Master, Trainer R Lines, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he shifted outwards when not fully clear.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App WW Cheah’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 7 January 2019 and to expire on 13 January 2019, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

At about the 300M, NINETYSEVENEMPEROR laid inwards under pressure.

LUCKY JUSTICE (A Aucharuz) jumped inwards, causing GOD HELPS ME (App L De Souza) to be carried inwards and STAR INVINCIBLE (S Ruzaini) to be crowded between GOLD HELPS ME and MR PAULANDRE (J Mallyon).

Approaching the 1000M, BIG DALLAS (HS Gill) got its head up in response to the rider attempting to obtain cover between HIGH COUNCIL (App CK Khaw) and as a result, BIG DALLAS was unable to obtain cover and raced wide in the middle stages.

THE JEUNEYMAN (Y Aify) raced wide throughout and returned having cast its near fore plate. The gelding which was beaten 18 3/4 lengths, will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again due to its poor performance and difficult racing manners.

Approaching the 500M, LUCKY JUSTICE laid outwards and negotiated the bend with difficulty causing BIG DALLAS to be eased to avoid his heels.

SPIN FIRE (M Ganeesh) jumped outwards and SWIFT (S Anandan) jumped inwards causing SOON SEEKER (Z Khairil) to be crowded between them.

LIM’S KEYWAY (App J Daniel) jumped awkwardly inwards and brushed with SWIFT before being corrected.

ELITE GENERAL (HS Gill) showed a tendency to over-race in the early stages and had to be eased on more than one occasion to avoid running onto heels.

Approaching the 1000M, ELITE GENERAL laid inwards when over-racing and under restraint, causing BUKIT SUBANG (KC Wong) to be briefly crowded between ELITE GENERAL and FULL BET.

SWIFT which was beaten 18 3/4 lengths, will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again for having a poor performance.

App J Daniel, the rider of LIM’S KEYWAY, reported that his horse raced greenly.

App CK Khaw, the rider of D’GREAT SONG, in the presence of his Master, Trainer R Lines, was shown the vision of the early stages of the race and was warned by the Stewards that he must show greater awareness to other horses and riders when crossing in front in the early stages.

When questioned regarding the performance of FRENCH VINTAGE (App A Suriya), Trainer C Leck stated that due to the outside barrier today, he had instructed App A Suriya to ride conservatively in the early part of the race as the gelding has a history of breathing problems and he did not wish him to come under unnecessary pressure in the early stages. He added that in his opinion, FRENCH VINTAGE’s response in the straight was just fair. A post-race veterinary examination of FRENCH VINTAGE revealed the gelding returned broken-winded and as such will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

The Stewards noted Trainer C Leck’s explanation and reminded him of his obligation under MRA Rule 35(8) which pertains to the Trainers’ responsibilities to notify the Stewards if he instructs a Jockey to ride any horse under his training in a manner different to its most recent start or starts.

RACE 10 (R028) CLASS 4 (B) – 1300M (LONG COURSE B)

TEH TARIK (M Ganeesh) was slow to begin.

At about the 1100M, LIM’S SENSATION (App J Daniel) laid inwards causing GHOST EMPEROR (AM Aizat) to be crowded on his inside and then when corrected, laid outwards and bumped with GUILTLESS (App CK Khaw) approaching the 1000M.

Approaching the 1000M, GUILTLESS, which was bumped by LIM’S SENSATION, shifted outwards causing NEVERSAYNEVER (A Aucharuz) which was following, to be slightly checked to avoid his heels .

TEH TARIK laid outwards approaching the 500M and when corrected, produced a disappointing response to pressure. A post-race veterinary examination of TEH TARIK which was eased in the concluding stages, revealed that it was exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

At about the 400M, BIG SUPER (HS Gill) commenced to weaken and lose ground, and shifted inwards in response to the whip causing GUILTLESS to be crowded on the inside of BIG SUPER and to become awkwardly placed on the heels of GHOST EMPEROR. The Stewards showed the vision of the incident to Jockey HS Gill and warned him that he must take corrective measures immediately as soon as his mount shows a tendency to shift away from the whip. However, on this occasion, the Stewards recognized that BIG SUPER shifted in abruptly, having not previously demonstrated any greenness or wayward manners. Jockey HS Gill reported after the race that BIG SUPER was not striding out freely.

STREET CHAMP (App A Suriya) stood still as the gates opened despite being urged. STREET CHAMP will be required to pass a 1000M/vet (from the starting stall) test before being declared to race again to demonstrate that it is capable to jumping on terms.

At the jump, VALERIUS (J Low) was crowded between RED EASTERN (HS Gill) which jumped inwards and JJ STAR (App CK Khaw) which was carried outwards by LIM’S STARDOM (App J Daniel). VALERIUS lost momentum and early position as a result.

In the early stages, EASTERN TOWKAY (AM Aizat) showed a tendency to over-race before being allowed to take the lead approaching the 1000M.

Approaching the 600M, LIM’S STARDOM laid inwards momentarily causing NOVA SPIRIT (S Ruzaini), which was following on LIM’S STARDOM’s inside, to be checked. After reviewing the vision of this incident, it was established that no particular rider was to be blamed for this incident and as such the Stewards deemed it as a racing incident.

Jockey S Ruzaini, the rider of NOVA SPIRIT, reported that the interference suffered by LIM’S STARDOM approaching the 600M had caused the gelding to forfeit momentum at a crucial stage and as such his performance had more merit than the bare result.
