At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey WW Cheah, the rider of IRONSTORM, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he failed to ensure the he did not cause interference to OTAHUHU, ONE ABRACADABRA and BABY TWINS in the home straight.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey WW Cheah’s mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) Malaysian race day with effect from 3 March 2025 and to expire on 8 March 2025, both dates inclusive, to be served consecutively with any other penalty. In lieu of one (1) Malaysian race day, he was also fined RM1,500/-. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

(KC Tham) Saddle slipped back during running. This resulted in the Jockey being unable to assist his mount fully and raced wide. Thereafter, the gelding raced wide around the bend.

Jockey R Iskandar (CONGAREE) appeared before the Panel and was questioned regarding his horse throwing its head at the jump. In this regard, he explained that his mount was nervous in the gates and despite allowing CONGAREE the correct length of rein, it threw its head on jumping for no apparent reason. The Panel noted the explanation of Jockey R Iskandar but advised that his techniques on jumping would be continued to be monitored.
