Trainer CC Ooi (HARDCORE) appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding the improved performance of HARDCORE in this race. He explained that in his opinion, the improvement shown could be attributed to the gelding’s third run for the stable. He further explained that this gelding did have some fair form in Singapore prior to coming to Malaysia and whilst he was surprised by the win, he was of the opinion that this gelding had merely run to his better Singapore form today.
Trainer CC Ooi further explained that there was no change to this horse’s feeding or training and confirmed that this gelding would continue to be ridden similarly, that is; aggressively from the jump, in future runs where practical.

RACE 5 (R0383) CLASS 3 – 1020M (Track II)

6 FLYING DURUMI
(S Ruzaini) Jockey lost the use of his off side iron after the jump which he regained at the 850M.
At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey J Daniel, the rider of WECANDO, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding WECANDO, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to TOPMOST and KASSAB in the concluding stages.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey J Daniel’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) Malaysian race day with effect from 22 April 2024 and to expire on 27 April 2024, both dates inclusive. In lieu of one (1) Malaysian race day, he was also fined RM1,500/-. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

RACE 6 (R0384) CLASS 5A – 1020M (Track II)
Due to the number of runners which stumbled at the start of last race, the Stewards ordered that the starting stalls be repositioned. The Trainers and Riders were made aware of this decision and there were no objections.

8 DIGGING EIGHT
(App R Nuqman) Jumped awkwardly which resulted in the Apprentice becoming unbalanced and lost the use of his iron. 1 Starting Stall test.

RACE 7 (R0385) CLASS 5B – 1020M (Track II)
Due to the number of runners which stumbled at the commencement of the start of Race 5, the Stewards ordered that the starting stalls be repositioned. The Trainers and Riders were made aware of this decision and there was no objection.
