Trainer C Leck was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for failing to submit an application for Jockey S Ruzaini (MY GOODNESS) to ride 1 1/2kgs overweight in this race.
Trainer WC Lim and Jockey AK Lim, the trainer and rider of TIN’S MACHINE respectively, were questioned regarding the improved performance of the gelding. No suitable explanation was provided regarding today’s victory. Trainer WC Lim was reminded of his obligations under the provisions of MRA Rule 117(3) relating to the in and out running.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, App M Lukman, the rider of BORN TO WIN, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, WC Lim, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that approaching the 1000M whilst riding BORN TO WIN in this race, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to BIG FRANCK which had to be eased.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App M Lukman’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) Malaysian race day which will be served on 16 March 2024. He was also fined RM1000/- and advised of his Right of Appeal.

App I Fikri who rode his 40th winner on LIM’S UNIQUE in this race, would only be entitled to claim 2kgs allowance as from Monday, 11 March 2024.
At the conclusion of an inquiry, App AB Riduan, the rider of GOLDEN PEAK, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, HY Cheng, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that approaching the 1000M whilst riding GOLDEN PEAK in this race, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to D’GREAT JOURNEY.

Jockey S Ruzaini (TANGESH) appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding the vigour and consistency of his riding in the straight. In this regard, he explained to the Panel that TANGESH had raced greenly in the running, was hanging out and failed to negotiate the final turn. He further explained that upon entering the straight he had tried to hold this gelding together as it showed a tendency to shift out and it was in his opinion that this may have affected the visual vigour and consistency of this riding. The Panel noted the explanation of Jockey S Ruzaini, however, cautioned him regarding the above issues and advised him that a similar occurrence may lead to more severe sanctions.
Jockey KC Tham (VILLAGE TYCOON) was reminded of his obligations regarding covering unnecessary ground in races. He was further advised that he is required to at least attempt to acquire the best strategic position and such attempt must be evident from the video footage of the race. Jockey KC Tham was issued with a caution and advised that should there be a similar occurrence in future, a more severe sanction may follow.
