RACE 2 (R1289) CLASS 5 B – 1300M (LC A)
1 REMO MAMA
(App M Lukman) Was hanging inwards in the straight and shifted in away from the whip on multiple occasions. Apprentice reminded of his obligations regarding being sufficiently clear of other runners when shifting ground and advised to take stronger corrective measures to prevent his horses from covering unnecessary ground.
2 ALEXANDER
(L De Souza) Raced wide in the early stages. Baulked for a clear run between the 500M and the 300M.
4 GURNEY DRIVE
(App M Ekdihar) Carried in at the 400M. Raced wide throughout. Vet inspection: Bled – Bleeder’s test (Barred 3 months).

10 NORTHERN KNIGHT
(S Hafis) An inquiry will be opened into Jockey S Hafis’ riding of the gelding in the concluding stages of the race.
Trainer WC Lim appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding the improved performance of REMO MAMA. In this regard, he could offer no suitable explanation regarding this improvement other than to state that after trialling well, this horse carried that confidence into the race which accounted for the win today.
The Stewards, on Friday, 8 December 2023 at the Selangor Turf Club, concluded an inquiry into the riding of NORTHERN KNIGHT and took evidence from Jockey S Hafis, the rider of the gelding.
The Stewards reviewed the films of the incident and considered the evidence tendered. Jockey S Hafis (NORTHERN KNIGHT) pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(6) in that he failed to ride his horse out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge being that in Race 2 run on Saturday, 2 December 2023 at the Selangor Turf Club, he failed to ride NORTHERN KNIGHT out to the end of the race in the concluding stages to the satisfaction of the Stewards, thereby prejudicing his chances of obtaining third position.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey S Hafis’ guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) month with effect from 11 December 2023 and to expire on 10 January 2024, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

Trainer SY Lim (FARDUS) was fined RM250/- under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for negligence in saddling his horse up.
App M Ekdihar (BARBARIAN), who was assisted by Mr LL Tai, the Head of SLTC Apprentice School, appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding his decision to switch outside of XIONG FONG (App M Lukman) when it appeared that there was sufficient running room between XIONG FONG and LIM’S SPHERE (App I Fikri). App M Ekdihar explained to the Board that after XIONG FONG had shifted in away from the whip, he had anticipated that the run would close and he would not have clear running. He further explained that whilst his run had stayed open, at that juncture, he had already committed to an outward movement. The Board noted the explanation of App M Ekdihar.

Jockey AM Aizat (TAIWAN CAPTAIN) was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for failing to ride with the same equipment he weighed out with.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey WW Cheah, the rider of HEARTENING FLYER, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to AWESOME STORM (J De Souza) at the 1100M mark.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey WW Cheah’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of three (3) Malaysian race days with effect from 4 December 2023 and to expire on 17 December 2023, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

Jockey S Hafis who rode his 80th winner on QUICKEN AWAY in this race, would only be entitled to claim 1kg allowance as from Monday, 4 December 2023.
On inquiry, App M Ekdihar, the rider of PACIFIC EMPIRE, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, SY Lim, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii). The matter would be finalized during the week.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, App H Haikal, the rider of STRETCHY FOUR, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, HY Cheng, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding STRETCHY FOUR in this race, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to STORM TO WIN (App A Nazir) and SHOQEET (E Ferreira) at approximately the 700M.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App H Haikal’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 4 December 2023 and to expire on 10 December 2023, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
