(SU Lim) Jumped awkwardly and was thereby slow into stride. Checked near 750M when tightened from its outside.
11 RAINBOW FISH
(App S Shazmin) Tightened at the start, thereby losing ground.
App A Nazir explained that CANDY RAIN struck its hip on entering the stalls and he believed that this had affected the mare in its running. He was advised that he must report such incident to the Starter and Vet and warned that he must straighten his mounts more quickly when they shift. Trainer F Maynard was advised that CANDY RAIN will be required to pass 1 Starting Stall test before being declared to race again.
At the conclusion of an inquiry, App I Fikri (ARTEMISIA OF CARIA), in the presence of his Employing Trainer’s representative, Trainer V Sivan who is also the trainer of the mare, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he shifted in at about the 750M causing ISLE OF SKY to be restrained.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App I Fikri’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of three (3) Malaysian race days with effect from 19 June 2023 and to expire on 15 July 2023, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

(App A Nazir) After being slow to begin, was crowded and lost its position.

(App WW Cheah) Jumped awkwardly, lost ground and then was obliged to race wide throughout.
9 LEESTOWN EXPRESS
(Y Aify) Rider dropped his whip at the 300M and fined RM500/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a)
11 GAIN ECLIPSE
(App A Najib) Rider reported that his horse was standing flat-footed and subsequently did not accelerate quickly, and was inclined to lay inwards in the straight.

RACE 4 (R661) CLASS 4a – 1275M (II)
1 MIRACLE
(R Rueven) Jumped awkwardly.
2 MR X
(B Pinheiro) Knuckled badly at the start, dislodging rider. Gelding ascertained to have fractured its near hind proximal tibia and was subsequently euthanized. Analytical samples were collected for testing.
6 UNDER OATH
(J Low) Pulled hard in the early stages and had to be restrained in the run to the 800M.

(HS Gill) Raced greenly throughout.

(App I Fikri) After jumping awkwardly, raced fiercely and had to be restrained off heels near the 750M and was inclined to lay inwards in the straight.

(SU Lim) Had to be restrained to avoid the heels of runner which lost ground near the 1000M.
3 TORNADO PEGASUS
(Y Aify) The Stewards opened and adjourned an inquiry into the running and handling of the gelding. Vet inspection: No significant finding.
5 AIR BOSS
(App I Fikri) Slow into stride.
10 HOWL
(J Low) Restrained when held tight.
11 SAHM
(MM Firdaus) Slow into stride. Attempted to jump the crossing at the 1025M.
The Stewards, on 22 June 2023, inquired into the running and handling of TORNADO PEGASUS in the above race. Evidence was taken from Jockey Y Aify and Trainer NM Selvan, the rider and trainer of TORNADO PEGASUS respectively. Dr Hafiz of the SLTC Veterinary Clinic also tendered evidence.
After considering the evidence, Jockey Y Aify was found guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride the satisfaction of the Stewards in the manner he had ridden TORNADO PEGASUS (dead heat for first) in the straight, whereby he restrained the gelding on several occasions.
After taking into consideration Jockey Y Aify’s mitigating factors, submissions on penalty and his poor riding record related to this charge, he was suspended from riding in races for a period of six (6) months and fined RM20,000/-.
Jockey Y Aify subsequently exercised his Right of Appeal and was granted a Stay of Sentence. The appeal hearing will be held at a date to be fixed.

RACE 6 (R663) CLASS 4b – 1775M (II)

(S Saddam) Raced wide in the middle stages.
5 WHY NOT
(App M Lukman) Obliged to race wide at the turn out of the straight.
Jockey S Saddam who rode his 151st winner on MICHIKAWA in this race, would not be entitled to claim any allowance as from Monday, 19 June 2023.

RACE 7 (R664) CLASS 5a – 1775M (II)
App M Lukman was fined RM250/- under MRA Rule 107(10) for failing to make the carded weight. The Stewards granted permission for App I Fikri to replace App M Lukman as the rider of VALUE OF JUSTICE.

(HS Gill) Had to be eased and threw its head when crossed near the 750M.
The Stewards, on 22 June 2023, inquired into the riding of MR G in the above race. Evidence was taken from App A Nazir, the rider of MR G, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, Trainer F Maynard who is also the trainer of MR G.
After considering the evidence, App A Nazir was found guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards in his riding of MR G in the straight which lacked purpose and strength.
After taking into consideration App A Nazir’s riding record, mitigating factors and his submissions on penalty, he was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) month with effect from 21 June 2023 and to expire on 20 July 2023, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

The Stewards questioned App K Pavinthran and Trainer C Leck, related to the performance of MAINSTREAM. Trainer C Leck advised that the horse had been very disappointed at its previous start and although having raced over 1600M and greater, he had reverted back to sprint distance today as he believed the horse had raced reluctantly last start. Whilst accepting this, the Stewards advised App K Pavinthran that he was expected to show vigour on all his mounts and that he must ride in a positive manner on every occasion.
The Stewards questioned Jockey S Saddam related to the veracity of his whip use on DIAMOND SET. Jockey Saddam was advised that he should ride every mount so as to leave no doubt so as to his proper purpose.

RACE 12 (R669) CLASS 5b – 1175M (II)
1 D’GREAT STRIKE
(App A Nazir) Bumped at the start, losing ground. When blocked in the straight, was inclined to lay inwards and rider had difficulty riding his mount out.
4 DARK WIZARD
(App R Nuqman) Raced wide throughout.
7 AYAAN
(Y Aify) Veered outwards on jumping, bumping runner and was inclined to lay inwards from the 125M. Vet inspection: Lame off fore – 1000M/vet (3 weeks embargo)
8 JET TWENTY
(D Prastiyou) Mistrode near the 700M when tightened for room. Rider advised that although crowded at this stage, the gelding had appeared to become unbalanced on its own accord and had subsequently reacted badly, thereby losing considerable ground.
