(App S Shazmin) Veered outwards at the start, bumping runner. Rider weighed in at 0.9kg overweight. It was established that although he had claimed, this extra weight was attributed to the horse’s having sweated and rider having a drink after weighing out. App S Shazmin was reprimanded and warned that he must ensure that he adheres to the provisions of the Rules.

9 NAUGHTY KID
(App A Suriya) Brushed near the 150M. Shifted in when ridden with the whip over the concluding 100M, crowding runner. *(See Report)
10 CONSTANT JUSTICE
(L De Souza) Shifted out at the 125M, brushing runner, to obtain a clear run. Rider warned that he must exercise caution when shifting ground. Restrained when tightened near the 35M.
At the conclusion of an inquiry, App A Suriya (NAUGHTY KID), in the presence of his Employing Trainer, Charles Leck, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) for failing to straighten his mount when using his whip and thereby, crowded CONSTANT JUSTICE (L De Souza) near the 35M.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App A Suriya’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty and low level of impediment. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 6 March 2023 and to expire on 12 March 2023, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
On inquiry, App A Suriya (NAUGHTY KID), in the presence of his Employing Trainer, Charles Leck, pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 41(6)(b) for using his whip in an excessive manner.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App A Suriya’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) Malaysian race day on 18 March 2023. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
