RACE 1 (R140) CLASS 5b – 1400M (A4 lc)
3 HORSE KING
(App R Nuqman) Travelled wide in the middle stages.
4 SING DARCI
(R Rueven) Slow into stride and after travelling 100M, became extremely uncoordinated, dislodging rider, then continued riderless. Vet inspection: Cut off hind & mild heat stress. In light of its performance, the gelding will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.
9 TRINITY REVIVAL
(V Espindola) Rider reprimanded for failing to ride out to the end of the race albeit that he maintained (short-head) its fourth position.
Jockey R Rueven (SING DARCI) was examined by the Club Doctor who subsequently stood him down from his riding engagement for the remainder of the races today, and was subsequently taken to the hospital for further observation.
After this race, Trainer M Sukri was questioned as to the procedure adopted in the unsaddling of FARDUS (Y Aify). He advised that FARDUS is a particularly fractious horse and his Syces had unsaddled the horse when on the move, and subsequently the equipment had ended up being discarded on the ground, in the absence of its rider, Jockey Y Aify.
Whilst the Stewards are aware of the horse’s manners, Trainer M Sukri was warned that he must ensure that his Syces exercised proper control and diligence when assisting a rider to unsaddle a horse, so as to ensure integrity of weight carried.

RACE 3 (R142) CLASS 5a – 1600M (A4 lc)
3 BIG KING
(App R Nuqman) Raced wide throughout, taking the turn into the straight wide.
7 GALLANT BLACK
(S Ruzaini) Vet inspection: Lame off fore – Vet exam (2 weeks embargo)

(CK Khaw) Slow to begin. 1 Starting Stall test.

RACE 4 (R143) Class 4a – 1500M (A4 lc)
1 KANTHAKA
(HK Cheng) Jumped awkwardly and lost considerable ground. 1 Starting Stall test. When making ground in the straight, was impeded.
2 HAIRY FIST
(App R Nuqman) Raced wide in the middle stages.
4 WHY NOT
(App M Lukman) Brushed near the 250M.
7 PENTAGON
(WK Yan) Raced wide at the turn into the straight.
8 PASIR PINJI
(App I Fikri) Withdrawn at 12:50pm: Sustained a laceration above the near side eye due to float injury – Vet exam.
9 LUPIN
(HS Gill) Laid inwards, brushing runner near the 250M.
10 D’GREAT OCEAN
(MM Firdaus) Withdrawn at 2:40pm: Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that the gelding’s shoeing was below standard. *(See Report)
The Stewards questioned Trainer MW Teh as to why he was late in presenting LUPIN in the paddock. It was confirmed that he had to substitute a girth on two (2) occasions and this delayed his saddling, however, Trainer MW Teh was advised that he ought to have his horses prepared which included bandaging prior to it being saddled.
Upon investigation, the Stewards established that D’GREAT OCEAN was presented with shoes which were worn in the toe region. Trainer KC Tiang (D’GREAT OCEAN) was fined RM1000/- under MRA Rule 35(1) for presenting D’GREAT OCEAN not properly shod.
App M Lukman (WHY NOT) was examined by the Club Doctor who subsequently stood him down from his riding engagement for his remainder ride.

RACE 5 (R144) Open Maiden – 1500M (A4 lc)
This race was rescheduled to start at 3:20pm.
4 KNIGHT COMMAND
(KC Tham) Rider reported that he broke his whip at the 800M.
6 TAN’S MAESTRO
(WK Yan) Failed to finish. Vet inspection: Lame off fore - 1000M/vet

RACE 6 (R145) Metro A - 1200M (A4 sc)
This race was run in light rain.
3 ECLIPSE SPLASH
(KC Tham) Proved difficult to load, causing a delay of several minutes. In light of this continued manner, the gelding will be required to pass 2 Starting Stall tests before being declared to race again.

RACE 7 (R146) Class 4a – 1200M (A4 sc)
1 BURKAAN
(HS Gill) Near the 250M, laid inwards and then had to shift out.
6 D’GREAT LIGHT
(AK Lim) Raced wide in the middle stages.
7 HAPPY THIRTYNINE
(App R Nuqman) When held tight near the 250M, brushed with runner and then shifted out, again brushing runner.
9 ELITE SAINT
(S Salee) Bumped near the 25M. Rider broke his whip in the straight.
10 ACE’S WILD
(CK Khaw) Crowded shortly after the start, having to be restrained, losing its forward position and then shifted out, bumping runner near the 50M.

RACE 8 (R147) Class 5a – 1100M (A4 sc)
1 LEO
(S Ruzaini) Withdrawn at 4:58pm: Refused to enter the stall. Given the horse’s history, LEO will be required to pass 2 Starting Stall tests before being declared to race again.
3 D’GREAT SUPREME
(MM Firdaus) Raced wide throughout.
5 LIM’S UNIQUE
(App I Fikri) Inclined to lay inwards in the straight and shifted in, crowding runner after the winning post.
9 VAIN TYCOON
(HK Cheng) Eased shortly after the winning post.

RACE 9 (R148) Class 5b – 1100M (A4 sc)
1 COMMODORE LINCOLN
(AK Lim) Slow into stride.
2 JET TWENTY
(S Ruzaini) Veered outwards on jumping, bumping heavily with runner.
3 ZAZU
(App I Fikri) Shifted in at the start, crowding runner, and was carried wide at the 800M turn.
4 DETERMINE TO WIN
(WK Yan) Squeezed on jumping, losing ground and finished distance. Trainer I Ismadi will be questioned regarding the performance of the gelding.
5 KUBERA’S CHIEF
(App R Nuqman) Checked severely at the 800M, losing considerable ground. *(See Objection)
7 SIMLONG BEACH
(S Salee) Shifted in and caused runner to check. *(See Objection). Rider suspended. *(See Report)
9 DARCI SUPER
(KC Tham) Bumped heavily on jumping. Drifted out over the final 75M, crowding SIMLONG BEACH. Rider reprimanded for failing to straighten when his mount shifted.
10 ELEGENT
(App S Sia) Raced wide throughout.
An objection was lodged by App R Nuqman (KUBERA’S CHIEF), placed fourth, against SIMLONG BEACH (S Salee), placed third, alleging interference at about the 800M. The Panel of Stewards upheld the objection and amended the placing to:
1st – DARCI SUPER (KC Tham)
2nd – I AM MIDAS (M Ewe)
3rd – KUBERA’S CHIEF (App R Nuqman)
4th – SIMLONG BEACH (S Salee)
At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey S Salee, the rider of SIMLONG BEACH, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he shifted in at about the 800M mark causing KUBERA’S CHIEF to check severely.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey S Salee’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of four (4) Malaysian race days with effect from 6 February 2023 and to expire on 19 February 2023, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
