At the conclusion of an inquiry, App R Nuqman, the rider of SHANGHAI CAPTAIN, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, BT Lim, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) for shifting out at that stage.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App R Nuqman’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days, to be deferred, with effect from 7 November 2022 and to expire on 19 November 2022, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (6:15pm).

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey AK Lim, the rider of ISLE OF SKY, was found guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction. The particulars of the charge being that although cognisant of the fact that his whip has broken, the Stewards considered that his riding of ISLE OF SKY was lacking in vigour and felt short of the requisite to demonstrate that ISLE OF SKY was fully tested.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey AK Lim’s mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) month with effect from 7 November 2022 and to expire on 6 December 2022, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (6:45pm).

(App M Lukman) Inclined to lay outwards over the final 150M.
11 TRINITY TARZAN
(App R Nuqman) Withdrawn at 2:03pm: Lame off fore - Vet exam (2 weeks embargo)

When questioned regarding this, Jockey S Salee (BATTLESTAR) stated that with its weight at 59kgs, he had been instructed to reserve the gelding, however, when in a prominent position, had been unable to cross as ELEGENT (App M Lukman) was holding its ground on his inside. He further advised that he considered the gelding was not suited by the nature of the track. A post-race veterinary examination of BATTLESTAR revealed that it was lame near fore and as such will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

Jockey M Ewe (LITTLE MERMAID) advised that the gelding had never been competitive and raced in a flat manner. Trainer KC Tiang was unable to offer any explanation over the poor performance and stated that it was uncharacteristic. In light of the performance, LITTLE MERMAID will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

Rider advised that the gelding had been beaten for pace early in the race and on straightening, it was moving very poorly and he had subsequently taken it out wide on the track and near the 300M, had eased it down fearing there was something amiss. Trainer will be questioned. A post-race veterinary examination of revealed no significant finding.
