The Stewards granted permission for Jockey CK Khaw to replace Jockey MM Firdaus as the rider of LITTLE MERMAID as the latter was caught in traffic due to an accident.

Jockey MM Firdaus (PIT BULL) was questioned as to why he was so far back in the early stages. He advised that the gelding was reluctant to be competitive and appeared to switch off despite his ride. Trainer KC Tiang stated that the gelding may be looking for further ground.

(App M Lukman) Withdrawn at 2:14pm: Lame near hind – 1000M/vet. A subsequent inspection of SCOOBY DOOBY DOO by the Chief Veterinary Surgeon revealed the gelding to be sound. This was again confirmed on 28 March 2022. As such, the embargo placed on SCOOBY DOOBY DOO (1000M/vet on 26 March 2022) is expunged.

(App I Fikri) Shortly after straightening, ran onto the heels of BIG DRAGON and was taken inwards, then steadied and shifted out near the 250M and again near the 175M, eased when KING OF GLORY rolled in. Rider advised to exercise more diligence when attempting runs.
6 MERMAID

RACE 6 (R368) CLASS 4 (A) – 1700M (A4 LONG COURSE)
1 LEGEND WAR
(HK Cheng) Inclined to lay inwards near the 225M.
2 SOUTHERN MAN
(J De Souza) Trainer HY Cheng fined RM250/- under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for failing to declare the use of tongue-tie within the prescribed time.
Dwelt at the start, threw its head, losing considerable ground. Raced fiercely in the early stages and was inclined to charge. In light of the start and its racing manners, the gelding will be required to pass 1 Starting Stall test before being declared to race again.

(HS Gill) Crowded at the start, raced wide in the middle stages and then was taken out to obtain a clear passage near the 200M. Rider reported that the gelding was inclined to race erratically.

6 BLACK THORN
(App M Ekdihar) Started awkwardly, bumping MOON FACE. Rider questioned regarding his whip use. He stated that the gelding was inclined to resent hard-whip riding and as such had ridden it in a moderated fashion. Whilst Stewards were conscious of BLACK THORN’s prior conduct and App M Ekdihar’s inexperience, he was reminded of his obligations to ride competitively at all times.

(SU Lim) Bumped the hind-quarters of BOOM ALMIGHTY at the 850M when crowded.

On inquiry, Jockey J Daniel, the rider of THE SAINT, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) for shifting in at this stage.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey J Daniel’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of three (3) Malaysian race days with effect from 28 March 2022 and to expire on 9 April 2022, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

RACE 10 (R372) CLASS 5 (A) – 1200M (A4 SHORT COURSE)
1 GOLDEN NINETY TWO
(HS Gill) Clipped the heels of TUN O’REILLY near the 1150M and dipped, dislodging rider.
5 CHAR SIEW
(A Zaimuddin) Slow into stride and raced wide at the turn into the straight.
8 MARTIN VJ
(R Rueven) Raced wide in the middle stages.
11 TUN O’REILLY
(S Salee) Shifted in shortly after the start, clipping its heels. *(See Report)
On inquiry, Jockey S Salee, the rider of TUN O’REILLY, pleaded guilty to a charge of reckless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(i) for shifting in and causing GOLDEN NINETY TWO to clip its heels and dipped, dislodging Jockey HS Gill.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey S Salee’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) with effect from 28 March 2022 and to expire on 27 April 2022, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
