Raced fiercely in the early stages. Rider stated that it had been his intention to ride in a handy position, however, given the gelding’s initial racing manners, he let it stride, thereby leading.

RACE 2 (R365) CLASS 4a – 1400M (C4 lc)
1 GOLDEN LIGHTNING
(App M Lukman) Had to be steadied to avoid the heels when crossed near the 200M.
4 HAIRY FIST
(HS Gill) Brushed from the inside near the 225M.
5 INTREPID
(L De Souza) Veered outwards on jumping, cannoning into runner. Was impeded for a clear run approaching the 250M and bumped runner on its outside when attempting a marginal passage.
6 CLARTON TREASURE
(KC Tham) Rider dropped his off side rein near the 75M. Fined RM500/- for excessive use of the whip.
7 TRAFALGAR
(MM Firdaus) Raced fiercely in the early stages, thereby led and was inclined to lay inwards from the 1000M.
8 SHANGANI
(R Rueven) Bumped heavily at the start and shifted ground, bumping runner. Vet inspection: Respiratory distress – 1000M/Vet (1 month embargo)
9 UPTOWN GIRL
(App I Fikri) Laid inwards passing the 250M, causing runner to steady.
10 OBSIDIAN
(App A Suriya) Bumped heavily at the start and thus ridden rearward and was then obliged to race wide in the middle stages.

RACE 3 (R366) CLASS 4a – 1250M (C4 lc)
1 EMPHATIC
(App WW Cheah) Shifted in passing the 900M, crowding runners. *(See Report).
2 LIMITLESS VENTURE
(R Rueven) Bumped outwards at the start.Raced fiercely in the early stages and was crowded slightly on straightening.
3 CHOCANTE
(M Ewe) Veered outwards at the start, bumping runner. Carried inwards and bumped runner near the 900M.
4 LIMITLESS STOUT
(J Low) Raced wide at the turn into the straight.
5 MELTING POINT
(App A Nazir) Crowded and bumped runner near the 900M.
6 RS DIAGO
(MM Firdaus) Tightened shortly after the start having to be restrained and subsequently had to be ridden wide. When making ground in the straight, had to check near the 200M to avoid the heels of runner.
7 TEMPTATIONS
(App A Suriya) Crowded at the start, losing ground. Inclined to race erratically
8 NO REGRETS
(S Salee) Checked severely near the 900M. *(See Report).
9 TURF PRINCESS
(App H Haikal) Bumped on jumping.
On inquiry, App WW Cheah, the rider of EMPHATIC, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, R Lines, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that approaching the 900M, he shifted in, crowding MELTING POINT which in turn tightened CHOCANTE which buffeted with NO REGRETS causing that horse to be restrained and lose considerable ground.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App WW Cheah’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days, to be deferred, with effect from 10 April 2023 and to expire on 16 April 2023, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
Jockey MM Firdaus later reported that whilst being loaded, he hit his right knee on the right gate.

RACE 4 (R367) CLASS 4a – 1100M (C4 sc)
1 NOVA FALCON
(App H Haikal) Slow into stride.
3 LIM’S SPIN
(KC Tham) Slow to begin. 1 Starting Stall. Raced wide in the middle stages. Vet inspection of the gelding, which finished last: Respiratory distress – 1000M/Vet (1 month embargo)
7 LIM’S SPHERE
(App I Fikri) Saddle slipped backwards slightly near the 900M.
8 TOP GUN
(S Salee) Reared when the start was effected.
9 SUPER HERO
(App WW Cheah) Cast near fore plate and was reshod before the start.
Jockey S Salee was examined by the Club Doctor who subsequently stood him down from his riding engagement for his remainder ride.

RACE 5 (R368) CLASS 3 – 1100M (C4 sc)
7 SMART RACER
(App A Suriya) Slow into stride.
8 VETRI
(HK Cheng) Slow into stride.
10 MAGNITUDE
(MM Firdaus) Bumped on jumping, thereby ridden rearward and was obliged to race wide in the middle stages. Rider questioned regarding this and advised that although it was accepted that he was positioned so as to race wide, that he ought to race in closer proximity with other runners.
Jockey MM Firdaus was examined by the Club Doctor who found him to have an abrasion to his right knee as a result of the incident in Race 3 and subsequently stood him down from his riding engagement for his remainder ride.

RACE 7 (R370) Class 5a – 1200M (C4 sc)
3 LION KING
(KC Tham) Laid inwards in the early part of the straight. Veered outwards over the concluding 100M when struck with the whip.
4 ARROGATE ACHIEVER
(CK Khaw) Slow to begin and was crowded inwards from the outside near the 1050M.
5 AMAZING ECLIPSE
(App S Shazmin) Shifted in at the 1050M. *(See Report). The mare was inclined to race erratically thereafter, bounding and taking awkward strides on several occasions. In light of this, the mare will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.
6 D’GREAT STRIKE
(M Ewe) Inclined to lay inwards from the 300M.
8 ELUSIVE EMPEROR
Withdrawn at 4:10pm: Connections would not accept any senior rider available.
On inquiry, it was established that AMAZING ECLIPSE had shifted in quickly when struck with the whip, thereby crowding ARROGATE ACHIEVER near the 1050M. The Stewards reprimanded App S Shazmin for failing to straighten more readily.

RACE 8 (R371) Class 5b – 1200M (C4 sc)
App M Lukman (OCEAN ELEVEN), in the presence of his Employing Trainer, WC Lim, was advised that it is expected for him to utilize part of his claim.
1 SHA NA NA
(R Rueven) Vet inspection: No significant finding.
2 JET TWENTY
(M Ewe) Dwelt when the start was effected. In light of its history, the gelding will be required to pass 1 Starting Stall test before being declared to race again.
