Triple Crown Series

The Triple Crown Series was launched in 2003. The series consists of three classic Class 1 races of the Selangor Turf Club which is Tunku Gold Cup, Selangor Gold Cup and Piala Emas Sultan Selangor. When the series was launched in year 2003, the first leg was Tunku Gold Cup followed by Piala Emas Sultan Selangor as the second leg and third leg was Selangor Gold Cup.

In year 2004, the Club decided to switch the second leg to Selangor Gold Cup and the final leg to Piala Emas Sultan Selangor which coincide with the visit of the Sultan of Selangor to the Club during the June Meeting.

The horse which successfully captures all three legs will be entitled to a special bonus worth half a million ringgit. These three races are open to horses three-year-olds and above and will be run on a weight-for-age scale.

The last triple crown series organised by the Club was held over two consecutive years; 1997 and 1998, and the three legs are Shah Alam Trophy, Kelang Silver Bowl and Wilayah Silver Bowl.
