A racing season at the Selangor Turf Club is from January 1 till December 31 each year.
-
Racing in Malaysia is conducted under the Malayan Racing Association (MRA) Rules of Racing. There are three turf clubs in Malaysia i.e. Selangor Turf Club, Perak Turf Club and Penang Turf Club.
-
30 race days are scheduled at the Sungei Besi Racecourse for year 2008. Each race meeting ranges from 2 to 4 days of racing held on Saturdays and Sundays.
-
An average of 9 to 10 races are conducted on each race day with an interval of 30 minutes between each race.
-
In Malaysia, we use a numerical scale to determine handicap weights for races. The Official MRA Rating allocated to each horse is the numerical assessment of that horse against all the other horses at that point in time. MRA rating places the horse on a listing that compares him to all the other horses, with the best horses having high ratings (100+) and the poorer performers having ratings near to zero.
-
Races are broadcast live to the other Turf Clubs and vice versa when live races are conducted at these Turf Clubs.
-
Selangor Turf Club operates off-course betting on the races conducted at the other Clubs including Friday night racing from Singapore Turf Club and Wednesday and weekend races from the Hong Kong Jockey Club.
-
Total race days for 2008 (on and off-course) - 232 race days.
