Selangor Turf Club to stage Heat 2 and 3 of Three-Year-Old Championship
This weekend will see the Selangor Turf Club completing its share of the three heats of the Da Ma Cai Malaysia Three-Year-Old Championship with the staging of the remaining Heat 2 and Heat 3 on Saturday and Sunday; September 29 and 30, 2007 respectively.
The KL home-based trainers have been working their charge to the optimum level to secure a slot in the Final at the Sungei Besi racecourse on November 4, 2007. Out of the nine heats, the Championship has successfully organised five heats of which seven horses namely Jazzmint Delight, Hot Ego, Speedy Wind, Easy Speed and Happy Victory representing Perak, Mighty Triple Ace from Selangor and Yharo from Penang have all secured their places in the final.
The final will be made up of 15 qualifiers and four finalists will be joining Mighty Triple Ace after Heat 2 and 3 this weekend at the Selangor Turf Club. There will be another four finalists that will emerge after the remaining two heats on October 15 and 21, 2007 at the Penang Turf Club. In total, there will be five horses qualifying for the final from each turf club.
Leading the pack of eight runners on Saturday, September 29 at the Selangor Turf Club Heat 2 is Jun Jin and Pak Sing Tan with the highest handicap of 49 points and 39 points. As for Heat 3, Ishbiliya with a rating of 52 points stands out promisingly amongst its rivals of seven.
“The Three-Year-Old Championship has created much excitement over the last two months and this event has added a competitive edge to Malaysian Horse Racing. I am also happy that this Championship has significantly contributed to the increase of better quality horses in the local circuit,” said Datuk Richard Cham, Deputy Chairman of Selangor Turf Club.
Each home based heat offers prize money of RM75,000 and the winner of each heat will automatically qualify for the RM250,000 Championship Final. Two second-placed horses will also get a place in the final while the third-placed horse will qualify as emergency acceptor. Each of the qualifying horse owner will receive a RM10,000 Appearance Fee at the Final in November.
To add to the carnival atmosphere, racing fans attending races at the Selangor Turf Club this weekend will also stand a chance to win attractive Championship merchandise through the Scratch and Win contest that is organized in conjunction with the Da Ma Cai Malaysia Three-Year-Old Championship.
