The Selangor Turf Club Triple Crown Series, which carries a grand purse of RM2.5 million starts off its fifth season with the Tunku Gold Cup race on February 19, 2007, the first leg of the series.  The second leg, the Selangor Gold Cup race will be run on Sunday, April 8, 2007 and the final leg, the Piala Emas Sultan Selangor race will be run on Sunday, June 24, 2007. 

The first and second legs offer prize money of RM500,000 each and the final third leg carries RM1 million as prize money.  At the conclusion of the series, the one horse that captures all the three legs will be entitled to a RM500,000 special bonus.

Appropriately themed “where sprinters meet stayers”, the series is open to horses three year olds and above and will be run on a weight-for-age scale over three varying distances that starts at 1200 metres for the Tunku Gold Cup race followed by the 1600 metres Selangor Gold Cup race and ends with the 2000 metres Piala Emas Sultan Selangor race.  Over the years, the series has produced many memorable and exciting finishes where at two seasons in 2005 and in 2006, terrifying Superb Classic and Free Spirit in their respective season came close to being the first horse to capture all the three races.

In conjunction with the Lunar New Year celebrations, the Selangor Turf Club has lined-up some exciting activities like the Scratch and Win Contest, a talk on Your Fortune in 2007 by Master Richard Hoo, Chinese Calligraphy, Acrobatic Lion Dance and Lion Dance on the track for their racing fans.  More than RM28,888 worth of prizes are set to be won by the racing fans in the Scratch and Win Contest which is held over the four racing days on February 10, 11, 18 and 19, 2007.  

The first day of the Chinese New Year, which falls on February 18, will be featuring the running of the Wilayah Silver Bowl race with prize money of RM80,000.  The race, which made its debut in 1983 is run annually to commemorate the declaration of Kuala Lumpur as the capital of Malaysia.
