COMMITTEE ELECTIONS OF THE SELANGOR TURF CLUB

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Selangor Turf Club held on Thursday, 12th May 2005 saw two new faces, Dato' Mohd Zain Yahya and Mr Lim Eng Ho making their way into the Committee of the Selangor Turf Club.

Dato' Mohd Zain Yahya has a long and distinguished career in the management and administration of agro-based organizations and plantations. During his 32 years in the Malaysian Civil Service, Dato' Mohd Zain served in various capacities in the Ministry of Education, Housing and Local Government, Prime Ministers Department and the Rubber Smallholders Development Authority (RISDA). Upon his retirement in 1996, he continued his association in the agri-business sector through the KENSO group of companies. He is also involved in the construction industry in association with the Melati Ehsan Group and is a director of Pembinaan Kery Sdn Bhd.

The other new Committee Member, Mr Lim Eng Ho has more than 35 years of experience in running and managing logistics and forwarding companies. His sits as an independent non-executive director and a member of the Audit Committee of Magnum International Holdings Ltd and he is also an independent non-executive director and Chairman of the Audit Committee of Magnum Corporation Bhd and Magnum 4D Bhd. Mr Lim is also a very active member and past President of the Rotary Club of Kuala Lumpur.

There were four vacancies arising for election to the Committee, which were the retirement by rotation of Mr Freddie Yow Tian Sak and Dr Chan Lam Kong. The other two vacancies arose due to the untimely passing away of Mr Tan Kheng Seng and the resignation of Dato' Kamaruddin bin Abdul Ghani.

At the close of nomination on 29th April 2005, the Club received four nominations for the four vacancies that were Mr Freddie Yow Tian Sak and Dr Chan Lam Kong who had offered for re-election and the other two were Dato' Mohd Zain Yahya and Mr Lim Eng Ho. As there were only four nominations received for the four vacancies, the AGM deemed all four candidates duly elected into the Selangor Turf Club Committee.


The new line-up of the Committee Members of the Selangor Turf Club for 2005/2006 is as follows :-

The new Committee re-appointed YAM Tunku Dato' Seri Shahabuddin and Datuk Richard Cham as Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Selangor Turf Club. The Club's representatives to the Malayan Racing Association for 2005/2006 are made up of YAM Tunku Dato' Seri Shahabuddin, Datuk Richard Cham and Dr Chan Lam Kong. YAM Tunku Dato' Seri Shahabuddin and Datuk Richard Cham are also representative to the Lembaga Totalisator Malaysia.
