Bacardi-Martini Malaysia Sdn Bhd (formerly known as Jardine Wines and Spirits Sdn Bhd) the local distributor of Cognac Otard liquor from France, has been sponsoring this race annually since its inception in 1991.  The debut race was called Otard VSOP Cup and the name was subsequently changed to Otard Cup in 1994. From 2006 the parent company renamed the Otard Cup to Dewar’s 12 Sprint.

This exchange race is part of the twinning agreement established in 1997 between the Gold Circle Western Province and the Selangor Turf Club.  A reciprocal race called the Selangor Cup is run every year in December at the Kenilworth Racecourse in Cape Town, South Africa.

The Piala Emas Sultan Selangor race will mark the concluding leg of the Selangor Turf Club Triple Crown Series.  Carrying a prize money of RM1million, the Piala Emas Sultan Selangor will be run over a distance of 2000 metres during the Selangor June race meeting. This classic trophy race, which has been  running annually since 1980 has always been held to commemorate the birthday of His Royal Highness the Sultan of Selangor.

Korea Racing Authority Trophy

This exchange race is part of the twinning agreement established in August 2004 between the Korea Racing Association and the Selangor Turf Club. This race was first staged in 2005.  A reciprocal race called the Selangor Turf Club Silver Plate will be staged at the Seoul Racecourse in July/August
