SOON I WILL will be required to pass a 1000M/vet (from the starting stall, to be ridden unaided to the start) test before being declared to race again. RAJAH BROOK which had sustained multiple cuts to its off hind leg, was withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 3:10pm. The gelding will be required to undergo a veterinary examination before being declared to race again. ECLIPSE STAR (App KC Wong) which cast its near fore plate behind the barrier, was replated, examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race. Upon jumping, TAKEAIM (App A Zaimuddin) jumped inwards and inconvenienced ECLIPSE STAR and as a result of this incident, RUSSELL THE CROWE (App S Zulfikri) was also inconvenienced. Approaching the 350M mark, RUSSELL THE CROWE shifted out in an endeavour to gain a clear run and as a result, ZHUHAI and ECLIPSE STAR were both inconvenienced. After taking evidence from Jockey HS Gill, the Stewards adjourned an inquiry into the tactics that were adopted on PANDA BOMB at a date to be fixed. The Stewards questioned Jockey S Ruzaini and Trainer PS Kumaran as to the racing tactics that were adopted on the favourite, ZHUHAI in today’s event. Jockey S Ruzaini explained that after jumping well, he did suffer some interference shortly after the start and he received pressure from RUSSELL THE CROWE throughout the event, and he believed this was detrimental to his horse’s chances. He also stated that from the 200M, he was again disappointed for a run and in his opinion, the gelding was unable to regain the momentum and ran home fairly. Trainer PS Kumaran agreed with his jockey’s explanation. The Stewards informed Trainer PS Kumaran to report back to the Stewards if there is anything amiss with the gelding on returning to his stable. The Stewards, after viewing the official patrol films, were satisfied with their explanations and noted their comments for future reference. The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that ZHUHAI returned with a cut to its near hind leg and will be required to undergo a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
