RACE 1 (R1364) CLASS 5 – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A)

App S Zulfikri was fined RM100/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for failing to utilize his claim fully on PRINCE NANO.

KING OF SEAL (App KC Tham) jumped awkwardly and was slow to begin.

FOX TREASURE (J De Souza) was slow to begin.

The Stewards were mindful of this gelding’s previous barrier manners.

Prior to the gates opening, LIGHTNING QUEEN (App SU Lim) was restless in the barriers and dropped its head as the gates opened which resulted in the mare being slow to begin.

Approaching the 1000M, ENGLISH DREAM (J Shankar) was racing fiercely between runners and raced ungenerously for a short distance.

KIM SALUTE (App S Saddam) was momentarily held up for a clear run at approximately the 200M and had to shift in to obtain a clear run.

The Stewards questioned Jockey Lou Ho and Trainer W Lim into the tactics that were adopted on DON’TCALLME UNCLE in particular why from Barrier 1 and after jumping well and gaining a favourable position, he failed to hold his position approaching the 1000M and lost some ground at this point when in the opinion of the Stewards, it may have been detrimental to his chances.

Jockey Lou Ho reported that in his opinion, the early quick pace of the race was not suitable to the horse’s racing pattern and further stated that he was riding to the Trainer’s instructions to obtain a midfield position as it had shown in its previous races that this was the best way of riding it.

Trainer W Lim agreed with his Jockey’s comments and further stated that in its previous races, it has not shown any good form when being on the pace as was the case in today’s event.

He further explained that he was happy with the ride of his jockey.

The Stewards, after reviewing previous official patrol films of the gelding, acting on their own observations and after considering the evidence tendered, gave Jockey Lou Ho a “benefit of the doubt”, however warned both Jockey Lou Ho and Trainer W Lim that the Stewards will be monitoring the horse’s future performances.

Their comments were noted for future reference. The Stewards took evidence from Jockey J Low, the rider of FOREVER NICE, and App S Saddam, the rider of KIM SALUTE, in the presence of his Acting Master, Trainer PS Kumaran, into an incident approaching the 1000M.

At the conclusion of the inquiry, Jockey J Low pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that approaching the 1000M, he shifted in when insufficiently clear of KIM SALUTE (App S Saddam) resulting in that horse clipping his horse’s heels and blundering.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey J Low’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty.

Acting on the provisions of MRA Rule 48(5), the Stewards deferred the commencement of Jockey J Low’s suspension. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 6 November 2016 and to expire on 13 November 2016, both dates inclusive.

He was advised of his Right of Appeal (2:35pm).

Upon jumping, DELTA WING (Lou Ho) jumped outwards and inconvenienced GOLD KIDS (App CK Khaw).

WHAT’S DAT (S Ruzaini) jumped awkwardly.

DEKATI (M Ganeesh), D’GREAT EMINENCE (J Low), KAISER (C Goon) and WHAT’S DAT were all caught racing wide throughout the race.

Leaving the 300M, SIXDAY SEVENNIGHT (A Nawawi) laid in under pressure, placing PATERSON ROAD (App S Saddam) in restricted racing room for a short distance.

Approaching the 200M, GOLD KIDS was disappointed for a run between DELTA WING which shifted outwards under pressure and KAISER shifted inwards and as a result, had to shift in over the heels of DELTA WING to gain clear running.

App A Zaimuddin was fined RM100/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for failing to utilize his claim fully on STEERING.

The announcement of “All Clear” was delayed as the Stewards wished to view the official patrol film of the start as to see if RUFFLE THE RUFFIAN (App Z Khairil) was denied a fair start.

Upon viewing the official patrol film in the presence of Trainer S Hamilton, App Z Khairil, Dr Silamban Subbarao (Chief Starter) and Mr Tasharizal Bin Mohd Tahir (Assistant Starter), it was established that the mare became fractious in the barriers and as the start was effected, reared, jumped awkwardly and shifted in abruptly and as a result, dislodged its rider.

As this incident was merely caused by the mare’s barrier manners, the Stewards deemed RUFFLE THE RUFFIAN a runner and the announcement of “All Clear” was given.

RUFFLE THE RUFFIAN will be required to pass a 1000M/vet (from the starting stall) test before being declared to race again.

PROBABLY (M Wepner) was slow to begin.

Upon jumping, AUGUSTA (Lou Ho) jumped outwards and bumped LIM’S MISSION (HS Gill).

Leaving the 400M, LIM’S MISSION laid in under pressure when being struck with the whip resulting in the rider having to stop and straighten.

Over the final 200M of the event, LIM’S MISSION raced greenly and laid in resulting in the rider having to stop and straighten which placed the gelding at a disadvantage for the remaining part of the event.

Over the final stages of the event, PROBABLY shifted out abruptly when LIM’S MISSION laid in under pressure resulting in ITS ONLY MONEY (App S Zulfikri) being placed in restricted racing room.

App S Zulfkri, the rider of ITS ONLY MONEY, reported that his horse did not handle the yielding going.

App A Zaimuddin, the rider of STEERING, reported that his horse raced greenly throughout.

App R Fakruddin was fined RM100/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for failing to utilize his claim fully on D’GREAT VICTORY.

The start of this race was delayed when BLACK FIERY (App AK Lim) cast its near fore plate and had to be reshod.

BLACK FIERY was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to take its place in the field. SCOTTIE (S Sandana) jumped with its head in the air and was slow to begin. GHOST GENERAL (D Chong) was caught racing wide throughout the event.

CHASE THE DREAM (App KC Tham) was caught racing wide over the concluding stages of the event.

Jockey S Sandana, the rider of SCOTTIE, dropped his whip at approximately the 300M, placing him at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration his good record on previous penalties.

Jockey S Sandana was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a).

Jockey D Chong, the rider of GHOST GENERAL, reported after the race that his horse was making respiratory noises.

A post-race veterinary examination of GHOST GENERAL revealed that it returned with a cut on the near hind leg, lame off fore and with intermittent dorsal displacement of the soft palate.

RACE 7 (R1370) CLASS 4 – 1600M (LONG COURSE A)

GOLD DANCER (M Wepner) stood flat-footed and was slow to begin.

Upon jumping, TALISMAN (App S Saddam) jumped outwards and made heavy contact with KEEPER’S PRINCESS (J Shankar).

TAKEAIM (App KC Tham) and NINE POINT (App A Zaimuddin) raced 3-wide throughout the event.

Leaving the 400M, ANOTHER SON (J De Souza) shifted out wider on the track and as a result, NINE POINT had to shift in over that gelding’s heels to obtain clear running.

Over the final 200M, ENCOSTA ZONE (S Ruzaini) had a tendency to lay out under pressure and momentarily inconvenienced ANOTHER SON.

Jockey S Ruzaini was shown the official patrol film of the incident and reminded of his obligation to exercise greater care when shifting ground under similar circumstances in future.

RACE 8 (R1371) CLASS 5 – 1600M (LONG COURSE A)

Upon jumping, PERFECTLY PERFECT (M Ganeesh) shifted inwards and bumped AMONGST THE STARS (F Yap) in onto CLAIM (Y Aify).

ALL WEALTH (App S Uzair) and SUPER EIGHTYTHREE (S Ruzaini) bumped upon jumping. MY HANDSOME GREY (HK Cheng) jumped outwards onto KING FAALCON (J Shankar).

HAHA BABE (L Sofhan) was caught racing wide throughout and had a tendency to race ungenerously at various stages of the race.

Jockey S Ruzaini, the rider of SUPER EIGHTYTHREE, reported that his saddle slipped backwards from the 800M.

Approaching the 100M, LIM’S PERFECT (HS Gill) rolled in under pressure and as a result, AMONGST THE STARS was momentarily placed in restricted racing room.

The Stewards questioned Jockey M Ganeesh into the tactics that were adopted on PERFECTLY PERFECT.

The Stewards were concerned into the reasons why leaving the 400M, he failed to take the run to the outside of RAINBOW FUTURE (App AK Lim) when in the opinion of the Stewards there was sufficient room to do so.

Jockey M Ganeesh shifted inwards where in the opinion of the Stewards there was no clear run.

After taking initial evidence from Jockey M Ganeesh, the Stewards acting on their own observations, adjourned the inquiry at a date to be fixed as they wished to question Trainer Anna Scott.
