RACE 1 (R1267) CLASS 5 – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A)

CONQUISTADOR (F Yap) was slow to begin from its wide barrier.

Upon jumping, THUNDER KING (S Ruzaini) shifted outwards and inconvenienced MILITARY STAR (S Sandana). THUNDER KING, GOLD STAR PRINCESS (J Low) and CIVIL UNION (M Ganeesh) all raced 3-wide over the final 700M of the event.

The Stewards questioned App KC Wong, in the presence of his Acting Master, Trainer R Lines, into the tactics that were adopted on AIR STRIKE in today’s event as the Stewards were not satisfied that approaching the 1000M, he failed to hold his position when racing to the inside of CHATEAUNEUF DUPAPE (App CK Khaw) and as a result, lost valuable ground.

App KC Wong explained that just prior to this incident, he had to check and had to take hold of his mount when WILL BE BETTER (App AK Lim) inconvenienced him by laying in and as a result, his horse failed to hold its position and was reluctant to stretch out despite his efforts.

Trainer R Lines agreed with the Stewards’ observations, however, reported that this horse has a tendency to do this in its races and is reluctant to race amongst other horses.

The Stewards, after viewing the official patrol films and acting on their own observations, gave App KC Wong “benefit of the doubt” and noted their comments for future reference.

RACE 2 (R1268) CLASS 5 – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A)

App A Zaimuddin was fined RM100/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for failing to utilize his claim fully on RUBICON.

The start of this race was delayed for several minutes as RUBICON (App A Zaimuddin) proved difficult to be loaded into the barriers.

Trainer PS Kumaran was advised that the gelding will be required to pass a 1000M/vet (from the starting stall) test before being declared to race again. FULL MEANING (Lou Ho) reared as the gates opened.

Approaching the 1000M, SPARKLER (J Low) had a tendency to over-race and laid inwards resulting in RISE UP THE RANK (J De Souza) being momentarily inconvenienced. FULL MEANING and RUBICON both raced wide over the final 700M of the event.

Approaching the 200M, SPARKLER (J Low) shifted in under pressure and made contact with D’GREAT VICTORY (App AK Lim).

RUBICON had a tendency to lay in over the concluding stages and as a result, GREY IS POWER (App CK Tan) had to be eased by its rider. App A Zaimuddin, the rider of RUBICON, was shown the official patrol film of the incident and reminded of his obligation to exercise greater care when shifting ground under similar circumstances in future.

The Stewards questioned Jockey Lou Ho and Trainer F Maynard into the disappointing performance of FULL MEANING in this event.

The Stewards were not satisfied with the tactics that were adopted by Jockey Lou Ho throughout the event in particular why he raced so far back.

Jockey Lou Ho stated that the gelding had a tendency to lay in at various stages throughout the event and placed him at a disadvantage and placed it under pressure from the 900M in an attempt to improve his position 3-wide , however, over the final 400M, the gelding failed to respond to his riding and finished at the rear of the field.

Trainer F Maynard stated that he could not offer any real explanation to the disappointing performance of FULL MEANING and will be reassessing the gelding’s future upon returning to his stables, and could not blame his rider for the disappointing performance.

A post-race veterinary examination of FULL MEANING revealed that it returned with epiglottic entrapment and as such will be required to undergo corrective surgery and thereafter pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

RACE 3 (R1269) CLASS 5 – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A)

The start of this race was delayed for 5 minutes to commence at 2:05pm. DYNAMIC TRIO (App WK Lee) and WHAT’S DAT (App W Faizal) bumped upon jumping.

WAWA MASTER (S Ruzaini) had a tendency to over-race in the early and middle stages. JOHNNY’S CAFÉ (App Z Khairil), WAWA MASTER and SILENT DREAMS (App KC Wong) were all caught racing wide throughout the event. Approaching the 250M, CODE OF SILENCE (J De Souza) laid in when being struck with the whip resulting in LIGHTINING QUEEN (App SU Lim) having to be eased by its rider.

Jockey J De Souza was shown the official patrol film of the incident and reminded of his obligation to exercise greater care when shifting ground under similar circumstances in future.

Approaching the 100M mark, TURBO (J Low) shifted out abruptly when leading the field resulting in the rider becoming very unbalanced.

Approaching the 100M, RAINBOW EASY (App AK Lim) shifted out under pressure and as a result, JOHNNY’S CAFÉ was inconvenienced and taken out onto CHAMPAGNE ROSE (SS Vanan). As a result of this incident, TAVAN BOGD (F Yap) was also inconvenienced and had to shift in to gain clear running, losing valuable ground.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, App SU Lim, the rider of LIGHTNING QUEEN, in the presence of his Master, Trainer WC Lim, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that approaching the 1100M, he shifted in when insufficiently clear of WHAT’S DAT which was taken in onto DYNAMIC TRIO and as a result, DYNAMIC TRIO had to be severely checked by its rider.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App SU Lim’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty.

He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 10 October 2016 and to expire on 16 October 2016, both dates inclusive.

He was advised of his Right of Appeal (4:50pm).

RACE 5 (R1271) CLASS 4 – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A)

The start of this race was delayed for 5 minutes to commence at 3:05pm.

Trainer R Jensen was fined RM100/- under MRA Rule 65(5)(c) for failing to produce the declared colours on SUPER VICTORY (App AM Aizat).

Trainer BT Lim was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for presenting GHOST GENERAL (App A Zaimuddin) without cross-nose band as declared.

SUPER VICTORY (App AM Aizat) jumped with its head in the air. SWISS BANK (HS Gill) was fractious in the barriers as the gates opened and jumped awkwardly.

Upon jumping, BLACK IS POWER (App KC Tham) shifted outwards and inconvenienced UNME (S Sandana) which was taken out onto SUNTZU (M Wepner). SUNTZU jumped awkwardly.

Making the turn at the 1000M, SWISS BANK shifted out abruptly and had to be eased out over the heels of RUSSELL THE CROWE (J Low) which was improving to its outside.

SUPER VICTORY (App AM Aizat) and SUNTZU both raced wide over the final 700M of the event.

After viewing the official patrol films of this event and considering the evidence tendered, the Stewards acting on their own observations, App AM Aizat, the rider of SUPER VICTORY, in the presence of his Master, Trainer R Jensen, was found guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards.

The particulars of the charge were that the Stewards were not satisfied with his riding in that he restrained the horse at the start and failed to show sufficient vigour from the barrier in order to carry out his Trainer’s instructions to be handy to mid-back.

Trainer R Jensen reported that SUPER VICTORY was having its first start with a cross over nose band and may have overreacted to it in the early stages.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App AM Aizat’s mitigating factors, previous good riding record in relation to this Rule and his submissions on penalty.

He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) month with effect from 10 October 2016 and to expire on 9 November 2016, both dates inclusive.

He was also fined RM10,000/- and advised of his Right of Appeal (6:10pm).

The start of this race was delayed 5 minutes when MORE POWER (App KC Wong) dislodged its rider on the way to the barriers, galloped for a short distance, was subsequently captured and taken back to the barriers.

The gelding was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to take its place in the field.

Upon jumping, MORE POWER shifted outwards and inconvenienced FAST RICH (App AM Aizat).

SAM THE MAN (SS Vanan) jumped awkwardly. Racing to the 1000M, TAWQEET (S Sandana) which was being urged forward by its rider, began to race keenly and had to be eased off the heels of NINE POINT (App KC Tham) and as a result got its head up and raced ungenerously.

GERMANIC (HS Gill) was caught racing wide throughout the event.

Shortly after entering the front straight on the run to the finish, GERMANIC hung in when being struck with the whip.

Approaching the 200M, Jockey J Low had his whip accidentally hit out of his hand when racing tight on the outside of TAWQEET.

After viewing the official patrol film, the Stewards took no action.

Approaching the 200M, MORE POWER shifted out abruptly resulting in the rider having to stop and straighten his mount.

RACE 10 (R1276) CLASS 5 – 1600M (LONG COURSE A)

Trainer Anna Scott was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for failing to confirm with Jockey A Nawawi prior to declaring him on PERFECTLY PERFECT (L Sofhan).

App A Zaimuddin was fined RM250/- under MRA Rule 107(10) in that he was unable to make the carded weight on SAGAR’S EXPRESS.

App W Faizal was fined RM100/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for failing to utilize his claim fully on TESSERACT.

Upon jumping, MAN OF THE WORLD (App WK Lee) shifted in and inconvenienced DUEL OF HONOUR (Lou Ho). KING FAALCON (J Shankar) was slow to begin.

At the concluding stages of the event, ROCK D’BOAT (C Goon) shifted out under pressure, taking TESSERACT (App W Faizal) and GLORY BETTING (M Wepner) wider on the track.

The Stewards adjourned an inquiry into the reasons why MAN OF THE WORLD (App WK Lee) clipped the heels of ROCK D’BOAT (C Goon) and blundered approaching the 1000M as Jockey C Goon had left the course.

The Stewards questioned Jockey J Shankar and Trainer L Moy into the tactics that were adopted on KING FAALCON in today’s event in particular the reasons why Jockey J Shankar failed to show sufficient expected vigour throughout the event.

Jockey J Shankar reported that he was riding to the Trainer’s instructions to be well-back as in its previous starts and this was confirmed by the Stewards through the Trainer’s Instruction Form.

Jockey J Shankar further explained that he was advised not to punish the horse in the early stages as it has shown to run its best races in this manner. Trainer L Moy confirmed the instructions and informed the Stewards that the gelding is better to be settled back in its races as the gelding is better suited to 1800M rather than today’s 1600M.

The Stewards, after viewing the official patrol film, were not fully satisfied with the explanation given by Trainer L Moy and informed Jockey J Shankar that in future rides on this gelding, he would be expected to show far greater vigour throughout the event than he did on this occasion.

The Stewards noted their comments for future reference, however, informed Trainer L Moy that the Stewards will continue to monitor this horse’s upcoming engagements.

The Stewards took evidence from Jockey C Goon, the rider of ROCK D’BOAT, and App WK Lee, the rider of MAN OF THE WORLD, into an incident approaching the 1100M.

At the conclusion of the inquiry, Jockey C Goon, the rider of ROCK D’BOAT, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that at approximately the 1100M in this race, he shifted in when insufficiently clear of MAN OF THE WORLD resulting in that horse clipping his horse’s heels and blundering.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey C Goon’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty.

He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 31 October 2016 and to expire on 12 November 2016, both dates inclusive.

He was advised of his Right of Appeal (12:45pm).
