RACE 1 (R1059) CLASS 5 – 1100M (SHORT COURSE A)

The start of this race was delayed when TILSWORTH MALI (J Low) proved difficult to be loaded into the barriers.

Trainer F Maynard was advised that in view of its previous history, the Stewards placed a warning on this horse and he must improve its barrier manners, or action may be taken against the filly.

TILSWORTH MALI jumped awkwardly. MYSTIC WARRIOR (App A Zaimuddin) jumped with its head in the air.

ZENIDEKKA (C Goon) was momentarily inconvenienced shortly after the start as a result of BLACK COFFEE (J De Souza) shifting outwards.

Approaching the 800M, D’GREAT EMINENCE (Lou Ho) steadied the pace and as a result of this, TILSWORTH MALI had to be checked off that mare’s heels and lost ground as a consequence.

Jockey Lou Ho was shown the official patrol film of the incident and reminded of his obligation in relation to easing the pace or action may be taken against his license.

TILSWORTH MALI and ACME (S Ruzaini) both had a tendency to lay out under pressure approaching the 200M.

Leaving the 200M, HAHA BABE (M Ganeesh) had to be steadied off the heels of BLACK COFFEE (J De Souza) when BLACK COFFEE rolled in marginally.

Upon returning to scales, App AM Aizat, the rider of LADY FREEDOM, reported that the saddle on his horse slipped backwards from the 600M.

The Stewards questioned Jockey M Wepner and Trainer R Jensen into the riding tactics that were adopted on DUBLEO BEAUTY in today’s event in particular as the mare has shown early pace in its previous race starts and today, from Barrier 1, expected a similar, in particular from this barrier.

Jockey M Wepner explained that his instructions were to try and settle the mare and gain a midfield trailing position, and this was confirmed from the Trainer’s Instruction Form.

He further stated that after jumping, he showed very little vigour as he expected the mare to over-race as on previous occasions, however, this was not the case.

He placed it under pressure at the 400M, nevertheless it failed to respond to his riding.

Trainer R Jensen stated that they were endeavouring to change the tactics of DUBLEO BEAUTY in an attempt to improve its performance as the mare failed to finish its races in its last few starts.

After viewing the official patrol films, the Stewards noted their comments for future reference. The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that DUBLEO BEAUTY returned having cast its near fore plate.

The Stewards questioned App A Zaimuddin, in the presence of his Master, Trainer BT Lim, into the riding tactics that were adopted on MYSTIC WARRIOR in today’s event in particular why the Trainer’s Instruction Form stated that the gelding was to race in a handy position and on this occasion, it seemed that it was restricted from the barriers and raced towards the rear of the field.

App A Zaimuddin reported that upon jumping, MYSTIC WARRIOR threw its head in the air which resulted in him missing the start and this was the reason why he could not carry out the instructions.

Trainer BT Lim concurred with his Apprentice’s evidence and stated that the gelding has a previous history and is not an easy horse to ride.

After viewing the official patrol film, the Stewards noted their comments for future reference.

RACE 3 (R1061) CLASS 4 – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A)

MR PAULANDIT (App KC Tham) was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers at the request of the rider and was passed fit to take its place in the field.

Upon jumping, HUSSAR (M Zaidi) jumped outwards and inconvenienced AWAKENED (App M Hanif) and DELTA WING (Lou Ho). THE MILLIONAIRE (R Woodworth) had a tendency to over-race in the early stages.

DELTA WING had a tendency to over-race in the early stages and had to be eased off the runners in front.

RUSSELL THE CROWE (J Low), DELTA WING and LONESOME ME (App KC Wong) were all caught racing wide throughout the event.

Approaching the 300M, SWISS BANK (HS Gill) was held up for a clear run and had to shift in across several horses’ heels in an endeavour to gain clear running.

The Stewards questioned App CK Khaw, in the presence of his Master, Trainer R Lines, into the riding tactics that were adopted on INVICTUS in today’s event in particular from the 1000M to the winning post as the Stewards were concerned with the lack of vigour from App CK Khaw.

Trainer R Lines explained that INVICTUS will need a stronger rider in future in an endeavour to gain a good form.

He further stated that he will give the gelding 2 more starts and make a decision on the gelding’s future.

App CK Khaw was shown the official patrol film of the incident and reminded of his obligation to show more vigour than what he did on this occasion.

The Stewards took into consideration his limited race riding experience.

The Stewards questioned Trainer S Hamilton into the improved performance of MR PAULANDIT in today’s event.

Trainer S Hamilton reported that she added the winkers and tongue-tie on the gelding, and had trialled it in Penang and there was an improvement in its performance and believed that in today’s race, this may have been the reason for this  improved performance.

She further stated that there was stable support.

The Stewards reminded Trainer S Hamilton on the Rules regarding in and out running.

RACE 7 (R1065) BANDED 55 - 71 – 1400M (LONG COURSE A)

This race was rescheduled to start at 5:35pm.

Upon jumping, HAPPY EDDINGTON (J Shankar) shifted inwards and bumped WIND OF SUCCESS (R Woodworth).

Upon jumping, HELLO SAYANG (App KC Wong) was inconvenienced as a result of LUWAK COFFEE (App S Shafrizal) jumping outwards and BLACK FIERY (App WK lee) shifting inwards.

Approaching the 1000M, GOOD MUMMY (J De Souza) shifted inwards resulting in BLACK FIERY shifting in and away, and was momentarily inconvenienced.

Approaching the 300M, TIDAL WAVE (App KC Tham) rolled out under pressure resulting in GOLIATH (App CK Khaw) being inconvenienced.

Approaching the 150M, GHOST HANA (HS Gill) had a tendency to lay in under pressure and as a result, HAPPY EDDINGTON was tightened for racing room and had to be checked by its rider.

Upon returning to scales, Jockey J Low, the rider of D’GREAT BATTALION, reported that his saddle slipped backwards in the straight.

An objection was lodged by Jockey J Shankar, the rider of HAPPY EDDINGTON, placed second against GHOST HANA (HS Gill) being declared the winner, on the grounds of alleged interference at about the 150M mark.

After considering the evidence, the Racing Stewards were of the opinion that the alleged interference had not affected the result of the race.

The objection was overruled and the result stood.

The Stewards, in not taking further action, were mindful that Jockey HS Gill, the rider of GHOST HANA, did attempt to straighten the gelding on numerous occasions, however, believed that he may have been able to make greater effort than what he did on this occasion.

The Stewards could not fully blame Jockey HS Gill solely for this incident as it was the racing manners of GHOST HANA that contributed to this incident despite the jockey’s efforts to straighten his horse.

This race was rescheduled to start at 6:25pm.

Trainer F Maynard was fined RM1000/- for failing to ensure the vaccination of PRINCE MAG is updated in terms of MRA Regulation 20.3 as read with MRA Regulation 20.6.

PRINCE MAG was withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 4pm. NINE POINT (App A Zaimuddin) jumped awkwardly. ALACARTE (J Low) was slow to begin.

Approaching the 1300M, JET COSMO (App S Shafrizal) shifted inwards resulting in Q NINE MASTER (HS Gill) having to be checked by its rider.

ALACARTE which was following, was also inconvenienced in this incident.

Q NINE MASTER was caught racing wide in the early and middle stages.

Approaching the 300M, FASTNET STAR (HK Cheng) shifted inwards and bumped WONDERFUL SURPRISE (App WK Lee) on a few occasions.

Shortly after this incident, WONDERFUL SURPRISE shifted out and inconvenienced FASTNET STAR. WONDERFUL SURPRISE continued to shift out under pressure over the final 200M.

Over the final 100M, SWEET LODGE (M Ganeesh) had to shift in over the heels of WONDERFUL SURPRISE to gain clear running.

RACE 9 (R1067) CLASS 5 – 1400M (LONG COURSE A)

This race was rescheduled to start at 6:40pm.

As App KC Tham was stood down by the Club Doctor, TURNED OUT was withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 6:49pm when the gelding struck him in the face and there was no suitable rider available.

Upon jumping, LOVE EXCEL (HK Cheng) shifted out abruptly resulting in D’GREAT VICTORY (App R Fakruddin) being taken out and inconvenienced BLACK SEQUALO (App S Shafrizal).

The Stewards questioned Jockey J Low, the rider of APROBACION, Jockey HK Cheng, the rider of LOVE EXCEL, and Jockey Lou Ho, the rider of LOYALTY GAYA, in the reasons why App R Fakruddin was dislodged.

Upon conclusion of an inquiry, it was established that APROBACION rolled in marginally at this point and D’GREAT VICTORY (App R Fakruddin) which was racing fiercely, shifted outwards, clipping the heels of APROBACION and blundering, dislodging App R Fakruddin.

As a result of this incident, LOVE EXCEL shifted in, severely checking LOYALTY GAYA (Lou Ho). The Stewards could not fully blame Jockey J Low for this incident, however, reminded all riders of their obligations under similar circumstances in future.
