RACE 1 (R843) CLASS 5 – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A)

The girth on IKTO (App R Fakruddin) had to be readjusted behind the barriers. As the start was effected, BULL AND BEAR (App A Thamil) lashed out whilst in the barriers and as a result, was very slow to begin, unbalancing its rider.

Upon jumping, GLORY STAR (J De Souza) jumped inwards and bumped MAN OF THE WORLD (A Nawawi) which was taken in and made contact with LIGHTING QUEEN (App SU Lim).

MAN OF THE WORLD, THUNDER KING (J Shankar) and SAGAR’S EXPRESS (App KC Tham) were all caught wide in the early and middle stage.

MAN OF THE WORLD made the turn at the 500M wide. Approaching the 400M, SAGAR’S EXPRESS was momentarily held up for a run on the heels of THUNDER KING, then shifted outwards to gain clear running and ran home strongly.

Approaching the 300M, SHINING SUPREME (App S Shafrizal) had a tendency to lay in despite the efforts of its rider. Over the concluding stages of the event, GLORY STAR shifted out and bumped LIGHTNING QUEEN.

Upon returning to scales, App S Shafrizal, the rider of SHINING SUPREME, reported that his mount had a tendency to lay in and as a result, his saddle slipped sideways slightly, placing him at a disadvantage.

The Stewards questioned App KC Tham, in the presence of Trainer BT Lim, into the riding tactics that were adopted on SAGAR’S EXPRESS in today’s event.

App KC Tham explained that SAGAR’S EXPRESS had no early pace despite his efforts of urging him forward and found himself towards the rear of the field.

The gelding was unable to gain a clear run until the 250M and ran home strongly. He further explained that it may be looking for further distance than 1200M.

Trainer BT Lim advised the Stewards that SAGAR’S EXPRESS may not be an apprentice horse and in future, he will be engaging a more senior jockey on the gelding.

The Stewards noted their comments for future reference.

RACE 2 (R844) CLASS 5 – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A)

IRREPRESSIBLE (App KC Wong) jumped inwards and bumped D’GREAT WALL (J De Souza).

KIM SALUTE (App M Hanif) had a tendency to race fiercely in the early stages and got its head up and had to be restrained off the runners in front.

ACME (S Ruzaini) and HAPPY CHOICE (App S Shafrizal) both raced wide throughout the event. Approaching the 350M, D’GREAT WALL shifted in abruptly and as a result, CHAMPAGNE ROSE (App A Thamil) had to be eased off that gelding’s heels.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey J De Souza, the rider of D’GREAT WALL, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that at whilst riding D’GREAT WALL at approximately the 350M mark in this race, he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of CHAMPAGNE ROSE (App A Thamil) which had to be checked.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey J De Souza’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty.

He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 3 July 2016 and to expire on 16 July 2016, both dates inclusive.

He was advised of his Right of Appeal (3:10pm).

The Stewards questioned App A Thamil, in the presence of Trainer D Murphy, and Trainer R Lines into the tactics that were adopted on CHAMPAGNE ROSE in particular why he raced the mare in a 5-wide position from the 1100M when there was an opportunity to race closer to the running rail and not give away valuable ground.

App A Thamil stated that the mare had a tendency to lay out and this was the reason why he raced wide.

Trainer R Lines informed the Stewards that CHAMPAGNE ROSE was found to be lame and this may be the reason for its performance and would report any finding on returning to the stable.

Trainer D Murphy was not fully satisfied with his apprentice’s ride and agreed with the Stewards’ observations, and reported that it may have been an error for him to race wide.

As the post-race veterinary examination of CHAMPAGNE ROSE revealed that the mare was lame near fore, the Stewards took no action, however, warned App A Thamil in the strongest terms that in future he would be expected to ride all his horses in such a manner so as to leave no room for query.

RACE 3 (R845) CLASS 5 – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A)

The start of this race was delayed when RED EASTERN (H Bukhari) proved difficult to be loaded into the barriers.

Trainer BT Lim was advised that the Stewards placed a warning on this horse and he must improve its barrier manners, or action may be taken against the gelding.

FOX TREASURE (J De Souza) stood flat-footed and was very slow to begin.

Shortly after the start, LORD OF SHANGHAI (App AM Aizat) shifted outwards and bumped STAR BEAUTY (App M Hanif) and RED EASTERN.

FOX TREASURE was caught racing wide throughout the event. RED EASTERN raced wide over the final 1000M.

Approaching the 400M, RED EASTERN shifted outwards and momentarily inconvenienced LORD OF SHANGHAI.

Leaving the 300M, LORD OF SHANGHAI laid inwards under pressure when being struck with the whip and had to be eased off the heels of NO MONEY NO TALK (J Low).

Over the concluding stages, ENGLISH DREAM (J Shankar) shifted outwards under pressure, carrying RED EASTERN wider on the track.

The whip of Jockey J Shankar, the rider of ENGLISH DREAM, broke during running and was subsequently confiscated by the Stewards.

JET COSMO (App P Deneskumar) jumped with its head up in the air. Shortly after the start, TIGER STRIPES (S Ruzaini) shifted in and inconvenienced RUSSELL THE CROWE (App A Thamil)

Approaching the 1100M, LAUS DEO (App WK Lee) shifted in to gain a position closer to the rails and as a result, CHASE THE DREAM (M Wepner) had to be checked.

In view of the degree of minimal interference suffered on this occasion, App WK Lee was reprimanded, however, reminded of his obligation to exercise greater care when shifting ground under similar circumstances in future.

RUSSELL THE CROWE and HAPPY FLYING (M Zaidi) were caught racing wide throughout the event.

Approaching the 1000M, ADMIRAL DELIGHT (J Shankar) had a tendency to lay inwards resulting in DELTA WING (Lou Ho) being carried inwards onto JET COSMO (App P Deneskumar).

JET COSMO was tightened for room and brushed the rail.

Approaching the 300M, D’GREAT HERCULES (App R Fakruddin) had to be checked off the heels of TIGER STRIPES which commenced to give ground as a result of bleeding and had to shift outwards to gain clear running.

Over the final 150M, LAUS DEO had a tendency to lay outwards when being struck with the whip and carried RUSSELL THE CROWE wider. LITTLE JUMBO (App AK Lim) had to shift in over these gelding’s heels to gain a clear run.

RACE 5 (R847) CLASS 5 – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A)

Shortly after the start, JET ACE (J Shankar) had a tendency to lay inwards despite the efforts of its rider resulting in the racing room of SPARKLER (App A Thamil), AIR STRIKE (App KC Wong) and WILL BE BETTER (App AK Lim) being restricted.

The Stewards questioned Jockey H Bukhari into the tactics that were adopted on LITTLE LION.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, after viewing the official patrol films of this event and considering the evidence tendered, the Stewards acting on their own observations, Jockey H Bukhari, the rider of LITTLE LION, was found guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards.

The particulars of the charge were that from the 1000M mark, he failed to improve his position and show sufficient vigour until the 400M when the horse ran home strongly.

The Stewards were of the opinion that he should have shown more vigour throughout the middle stages to gain the best possible placing in the field.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey H Bukhari’s mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty.

Acting on the provisions of MRA Rule 48(5), the Stewards deferred the commencement of Jockey H Bukhari’s suspension.

He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) months with effect from 3 July 2016 and to expire on 2 September 2016, both dates inclusive.

He was advised of his Right of Appeal (4:30pm).

The Stewards further questioned Jockey H Bukhari into an incident approaching the 1000M.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey H Bukhari, the rider of LITTLE LION, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding LITTLE LION approaching the 1000M mark in this race, he shifted in when insufficiently clear of VON SNITZEL (S Ruzaini) resulting in VON SNITZEL being placed in restricted room and had to be checked by its rider.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey H Bukhari’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty.

He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 3 July 2016 and to expire on 16 July 2016, both dates inclusive, to be served concurrently with his earlier suspension in this race.

He was advised of his Right of Appeal (5:45pm).

RACE 7 (R849) CLASS 4 – 1400M (LONG COURSE A)

As the start was effected, D’ARTAGNAN (J De Souza) reared high up in the air and as a result, Jockey J De Souza was dislodged and the gelding followed the field riderless.

Upon jumping, D’GREAT RICH (App T Krisna) jumped outwards and WONDERFUL SURPRISE (J Shankar) jumped inwards resulting in DIRAC (Lou Ho) having to be checked by its rider and lost its position.

D’GREAT RICH had a tendency to over-race in the early stages, got its head up and raced ungenerously.

D’GREAT BATTALION (S Ruzaini) was caught racing 3-wide throughout the event.

Following the running of this event, the Stewards advised all punters to hold all tickets as they wished to view the official patrol films in relation to the reasons why D’ARTAGNAN dislodged its rider as it may have been denied a fair start.

After viewing the official patrol films, it was established that D’ARTAGNAN reared high up in the air as the barrier gates opened resulting in Jockey J De Souza being dislodged.

The Stewards took evidence from the Chief Starter, Assistant Starter, Senior Veterinary Surgeon and Trainer R Lines, and agreed that it was the horse’s barrier manners that caused this and declared it a runner.

The announcement of “all clear’ was given.

RACE 8 (R850) ELITE B – 1600M (LONG COURSE A)

Approaching the 1100M, GOLDHILL PRINCESS (App KC Wong) shifted in abruptly to gain a position closer to the rails. DIRAC (Lou Ho) was caught racing wide throughout the event.

Shortly after entering the front straight, GRAND PRINCE (SS Vanan) had a tendency to lay in and approaching the 300M, laid in despite the efforts of its rider and bumped JUSTICE WORLD (M Wepner).

Shortly after this incident, ROYAL GREEN (J Shankar) laid in resulting in JUSTICE WORLD having to be eased out over that gelding’s heels.

FLIGHT OFTHE SAKER (S Ruzaini) raced wide in the home straight.

The Stewards questioned Trainer A Scott into the improved performance of JUSTICE WORLD from its previous start.

Trainer A Scott was at a lost to explain regarding the gelding’s performance in its last start and informed the Stewards that she had changed the training regime of JUSTICE WORLD and had kept it fresh by not galloping the gelding.

She further explained that JUSTICE WORLD in today’s event, carried stable support.

The Stewards reminded her on the Rules regarding in and out running, and noted her comments for future reference.

RACE 10 (R852) CLASS 5 – 1700M (LONG COURSE A)

Prior to the running of this event, Trainer S Hamilton approached the Stewards regarding the riding tactics that will be adopted on BULLDOG’S PRIDE (App AM Aizat) in today’s event.

Trainer S Hamilton explained that in its previous starts, it has been racing in a handy position and failed to finish off its races.

For this reason, from a wide barrier, they are electing to restrain after the start to try and gain a trailing position and ride for luck in the straight in an endeavour to improve the gelding’s performance.

The Stewards noted her comments for future reference and a public announcement was made to this effect. Upon jumping, COCONUT (Y Aify) and KING OF THE CREEK (App S Zulfikri) bumped.

BULLDOG’S PRIDE, KING OF THE CREEK and KIM WARRIOR (F Yap) were all caught racing wide throughout the event.

Leaving the 200M, NO NONSENSE (SS Vanan) shifted outwards and as a result, BULLDOG’S PRIDE and KING OF THE CREEK were placed in restricted racing room.

The Stewards adjourned an inquiry into the incident at a date to be fixed as Jockey SS Vanan had left the course.

Approaching the 600M, BLACK TRISTAR (App AK Lim) was held up for a clear run at the back of VICTORY MARCH (C Goon) and the inside of PURE RABID (S Ruzaini).

Then approaching the 400M, was again disappointed for a run to the inside of VICTORY MARCH, and had to shift out over that gelding’s heels to gain a clear run.
