RACE 1 (R815) CLASS 5 – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A)

VON SNITZEL (App KC Wong) and REACHING (App R Fakruddin) bumped upon jumping.

TWIST OLIVER (R Burnett) jumped outwards at the start, and raced fiercely in the early and middle stages. D’GREAT EMINENCE (Lou Ho) had a tendency to over-race in the early stages.

Upon returning to scales, Jockey Lou Ho reported that his saddle slipped forward from the 800M.

REACHING was caught racing 3-wide throughout the event. Approaching 350M, VAGABOND (App S Zulfikri) rolled in and inconvenienced REACHING.

The Stewards questioned Jockey F Yap into the riding tactics that were adopted on KIM WARRIOR in today’s event in particular when he jumped from Barrier 1.

The Stewards were concerned that after jumping well, he failed to improve and hold his position in the early stages.

Jockey F Yap explained that approaching 1000M, KIM WARRIOR failed to respond to his riding and he believed that the gelding is better suited in longer distance than the 1200M as he found the pace of this event too quick.

The Stewards, after viewing the official patrol film, concurred with Jockey F Yap’s explanation and noted his comments for future reference.

RACE 2 (R816) OPEN MAIDEN – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A)

Acting on veterinary advice that D’ GREAT RICH had sustained a laceration on the right commissure of its mouth which was bleeding heavily, the filly was withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 1:55pm.

The filly will be required to undergo a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

The start of this race was delayed when ECLIPSE STAR (S Ruzaini) cast its near hind plate in the parade ring and had to be reshod.

The colt was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to take its place in the field. RANGITAIKI (App M Hanif) jumped with its head in the air.

ECLIPSE STAR (S Ruzaini) jumped awkwardly.

LORD OF SHANGHAI (App AM Aizat) had a tendency to over-race in the early stages and led the event. RANGITAIKI raced fiercely and had to be continuously eased off the runner’s heels in the early and middle stages.

RANGITAIKI had a tendency to lay inwards under pressure when being struck with the whip inside the 200M. TEMUJIN (App WK Lee) had a tendency to lay in over the concluding stages.

RACE 3 (R817) CLASS 5 – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A)

TAVAN BOGD (F Yap) and DUBLEO BEAUTY (App AM Aizat) bumped upon jumping.

WOW (M Wepner) had a tendency to over-race in the early stages and had to be continuously eased off the runners in front and as a result, raced roughly.

Approaching the 1000M, DUBLEO BEAUTY had to be eased out off BINT WARD (S Ruzaini). In the final 100M, D’GREAT LEGION (J De Souza) had a tendency to lay in resulting in the rider having to switch his whip to his left hand in an endeavour to straighten the filly.

The Stewards questioned Jockey F Yap into the riding tactics that were adopted on TAVAN BOGD in today’s event in particular in the home straight in relation to his whip use. The Stewards were not satisfied that he was making contact with his whip.

After taking evidence from Jockey F Yap and Trainer PS Kumaran, the Stewards gave Jockey F Yap the “benefit of the doubt” on this occasion and advised him in the strongest terms that in future he should ensure that he rides all his horses in such a manner so as to leave no room for query.

RACE 4 (R818) CLASS 4 – 1300M (SHORT COURSE A)

Upon jumping, SANDY MIGHT (J Low) jumped inwards, severely checking D’GREAT BATTALION (App R Fakruddin) and as a result, lost ground.

Approaching the 1000M, NOBLE FOUR (App T Krisna) rolled outwards resulting in D’GREAT BATTALION and SUPER GOOD (Lou Ho) bumping heavily.

Approaching the 400M, the saddle on D’GREAT BATTALION shifted sideways resulting in the rider kicking out his off side iron which placed him at a huge disadvantage thereafter and approaching the 200M, App R Fakruddin kicked out his near side iron and finished the race, however, this placed him at a disadvantage and the horse was not fully tested.

The Stewards inspected the saddle upon returning to scales and found that it was in a satisfactory condition, however, were not entirely happy on the girth used on the saddle and confiscated them.

Trainer R Jensen will be fined RM250/- under MRA Rule 35(1) for failing to ensure that the girth on D’GREAT BATTALION was correctly fitted.

SUPER GOOD (Lou Ho) was caught racing wide throughout the event.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that OCEAN FORTUNE returned having bled. In terms of MRA Rule 92(5), it will not be permitted to canter or gallop on the main training tracks of any racecourse for a period of 5 months, be entered for a bleeder’s test for a period of six (6) months, start in any race for a period of 6 months, and then only after having satisfactorily passed a bleeder’s test.

RACE 6 (R820) SUPREME B [COMBINED C1 &C2] – 1100M (SHORT COURSE A)

This race was delayed 5 minutes as CALIFORNIA CAT (App AM Aizat) was difficult to be loaded into the barriers.

As the start was effected, CALIFORNIA CAT reared upon jumping and shortly after the start, commenced to buck on several occasions, severely unbalancing its rider, losing considerable ground and trailed the field throughout the event.

App T Krisna who rode his 10th winner on IMPEL in this race, would only be entitled to claim 3kgs allowance as from Monday, 27 June 2016.

The Stewards questioned Trainer D Murphy into the reasons why he failed to attend the prize presentation after the running of this race as he was deputizing for Trainer F Maynard.

Trainer D Murphy explained that he had to attend to his horse, BINT WARD, which suffered an injury in the previous race (Race 3) and for this reason, he was unable to be present and offered his apologies.

The Stewards accepted his explanation, however, again reminded him of his obligations under similar circumstances in future.

RACE 8 (R822) CLASS 4 – 1500M (SHORT COURSE A)

Acting on the Starter’s advice that JACKSEAN’s throat lash on the bridle was broken and there was no suitable replacement, the gelding was withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 5:25pm.

Trainer BT Lim was fined RM250/- under MRA Rule 35(1) for failing to ensure that the throat lash on JACKSEAN (H Bukhari) was in satisfactory condition.

Upon jumping, MIRACLE PRAY (Lou Ho) shifted outwards and severely inconvenienced SWEET LODGE (S Ruzaini) and PERFECT ATTACK (App KC Tham) and as a result, lost ground.

MIRACLE PRAY had a tendency to race fiercely in the early stages and racing to the 500M, MIRACLE PRAY had a tendency to lay out despite the efforts of its rider and made the turn at the 500M awkwardly.

Upon returning to scales, Jockey Lou Ho reported this to the Stewards. Approaching the 400M, SWEET LODGE had to be checked off the heels of HAPPY EDDINGTON (J Shankar) which shifted wider on the track.

As Jockey J Shankar had left the course, he will be reminded of his obligations to exercise greater care when shifting ground under similar circumstances in future. Approaching the 150M, PERFECT ATTACK had to be eased out over the heels of GYSPY (J Low) in an endeavour to gain clear running.
