RACE 1 (R471) CLASS 5 – 1300M (SHORT COURSE A)

STEALTH underwent a veterinary examination prior to the running of this race as Jockey J Shankar believed that there was something amiss with the gelding.

Acting on veterinary advice that STEALTH was lame near fore, the gelding was withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 1:18pm and will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

ENCOSTA ZONE (S Sandana) stood flat-footed and as a result, was very slow to begin despite the efforts of its rider.

ENCOSTA ZONE will be required to pass 1 starting stall test before being declared to race again.

Shortly after the start, JUST LET GO (App AM Aizat) shifted out abruptly and momentarily inconvenienced PERFECT TIME (M Wepner).

Leaving the 400M, KING OF SEAL (HS Gill) shifted out abruptly to gain a clear run and momentarily inconvenienced DRAGON NINE (App KC Wong).

Jockey HS Gill was reminded of his obligation to exercise greater care when shifting ground under similar circumstances in future, given the degree of interference was minimal. KING OF SEAL had a tendency to lay inwards over the concluding stages.

A post-race veterinary examination of PERFECT TIME revealed that the gelding returned broken-winded, and had chronic skin problems and visible wounds on its back spine.

PERFECT TIME will be required to undergo a corrective surgery and thereafter will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

The Stewards also  placed an embargo on PERFECT TIME until it is certified fit to race by the Veterinary Surgeon.

RACE 9 (R479) CLASS 5 – 1700M (LONG COURSE A)

LITTLE MAN (J Low) was a little slow to begin. LIM’S MIRAGE (App A Zaimuddin) had a tendency to over-race in the early stages, and raced wide over the final 800M. BLACK TRISTAR (App P Haris) had a tendency to over-race in the early and middle stages.

Approaching the 800M, BLUE DELAGO (Lou Ho) shifted out to race 3-wide over the heels of DRAGON EIGHT (Y Aify).

Approaching the 300M, CIZEN BROTHER (App KC Wong) had a tendency to lay in and brushed several times with MARIO ATTILA (M Wepner) and as a result, App KC Wong changed his whip to the left hand. Over the concluding stages of the event, MARIO ATTILA had a tendency to lay out.

The Stewards adjourned an inquiry into the reasons why App KC Wong failed to ride CIZEN BROTHER out fully to the finishing line at a date to be fixed as he had left the course.

GENERAL G which was beaten 19 1/4 lengths, will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again for having a poor performance.

The Stewards questioned App A Zaimuddin, in the presence of his Master, Trainer BT Lim, as to the racing tactics that were adopted on LIM’S MIRAGE in this event.

The Stewards, after viewing the official patrol films of this event, considering the evidence tendered and acting on their own observations, App A Zaimuddin was found guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge were that:

1. At approximately the 1000M mark, he failed to hold or improve his position when racing at the back of the winner, MARIO ATTILA (M Wepner) and he elected to take hold of his mount and lost numerous lengths at that crucial stage of the race;

2. Shortly after this approaching the 800M, he elected to shift wider, covering unnecessary ground and he failed to show any vigour to improve his position as normal and the Stewards believed that by doing this, his horse was not given full opportunity to gain the best possible position in the race.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App A Zaimuddin’s mitigating factors, his riding record that he was suspended for 3 months last week on the same horse, his submissions on penalty and limited riding experience.

He was suspended from riding in races for a period of six (6) months with effect from 10 April 2016 and to expire on 9 October 2016, both dates inclusive, to be served concurrently with his current suspension.

He was advised of his Right of Appeal (6:45pm).
