RACE 1 (R442) CLASS 5 – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A)

THRUST (L Sofhan) jumped awkwardly and was slow to muster early speed. ENCOSTA ZONE (S Sandana) was slow to begin and raced 3 wide over the final 700M.

Passing the 200M, FOREVER NICE (LL Tai) shifted out when being struck with the whip. Over the final 100M, JP REGIS (M Wepner) shifted out under pressure resulting in FOREVER NICE being taken wider on the track.

Following the running of the event, App SU Lim, the rider of REEL SCHMICK, reported that his horse was making respiratory noises.

A post-race veterinary examination of REEL SCHMICK revealed no significant finding.

REEL SCHMICK which was beaten 19 ¼ lengths, will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again for having a poor performance.

The Stewards questioned Jockey L Sofhan as to the performance of THRUST in today’s event.

Jockey L Sofhan said that after jumping awkwardly, the horse failed to show any pace throughout the event and he placed it under pressure in the home straight, however, it failed to respond to his riding.

Following the running of the event, Jockey L Sofhan reported that his horse was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of THRUST revealed no significant finding.

RACE 2 (R443) CLASS 5 – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A)

The start of this race was delayed as BLACK IS POWER (HS Gill) cast its off fore plate and has to be reshod behind the barriers. BLACK IS POWER was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to take its place in the field.

MY DREYFUSS (App AM Aizat) reared high in the air upon jumping, almost dislodging its rider and as a result, was very slow to begin.

Upon jumping, JP SUMMER (App WK Lee) shifted outwards and inconvenienced LEE’S SURPRISE (S Salee). Upon jumping, BLACK IS POWER shifted outwards, taking BEAUTY HARMONY (App S Zulfikri) out onto TWIST OLIVER (S Ruzaini).

Approaching the 1100M, BLACK IS POWER had to be eased off the heels of AIR STRIKE (App KC Wong). Approaching the 1100M, NUWA (J Shankar) had to momentarily ease off the heels of EYE FOUR GET (J De Souza) which shifted closer to the rail.

Jockey J De Souza was shown the official patrol film of the incident and reminded of his obligation to exercise greater care when shifting ground under similar circumstances in future.

AIR STRIKE had a tendency to lay in under pressure in the early part of the home straight and over the concluding stages, shifted outwards abruptly.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that JP SUMMER returned having bled.

In terms of MRA Rule 92(5), it will not be permitted to canter or gallop on the main training tracks of any racecourse for a period of 5 months, be entered for a bleeder’s test for a period of six (6) months, start in any race for a period of 6 months, and then only after having satisfactorily passed a bleeder’s test.

RACE 3 (R444) CLASS 4 – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A)

Trainer L Moy was fined RM100/- under MRA Rule 65(5)(c) for failing to produce the declared colours on NINETYSIX POWER (M Wepner).

TIGER STRIPES (App P Mogun) jumped inwards at the start, unbalancing its rider.

ZENIDEKKA (F Yap) jumped with its head in the air.

RED SAPPHIRE (M Zaidi) jumped outwards and ESPERANZA (App SU Lim) jumped inwards resulting in ALIEN (App S Zulfikri) being tightened for room.

LUCKY DAPPER was caught racing wide throughout the event.

CHASE THE DREAM (Lou Ho) left the trailing position on the rail to race wide over the final 600M.

Shortly after entering the home straight from the 450M until the 300M, LUCKY DAPPER was held up for a clear run behind the NINETYSIX POWER and as a result, had to shift in off that gelding’s heels to gain clear running.

Leaving the 300M, ALIEN (App S Zulfikri) was held up for a clear run behind NINETYSIX POWER and had to switch in over that gelding’s heels to gain an inside run.

TIDAL WAVE (S Ruzaini) had a tendency to lay out at the 200M.

Following the running of the event, Jockey M Wepner approached the Stewards in relation to the racing manners of NINETYSIX POWER.

He reported that while racing outside the leader, the gelding had a tendency to lay outwards despite his efforts and as a result, placing him at a disadvantage.

He further stated that in the run to the finish, it continued to lay out which further placed him at a disadvantage.

The Stewards, after viewing the official patrol film, noted his comments for future reference and will advise Trainer L Moy regarding the racing manners of the gelding.

RACE 4 (R445) 3YO SPECIAL STAKES – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A)

Due to the Handicapper’s error, the weight on TILSWORTH MALI (M Ganeesh) was incorrectly given out as 56.5kgs when in fact it should be 53.5kgs.

The Stewards, acting on the provisions of MRA Rule 9(1), amended the weight, informed all connections and a public announcement was made to that effect.

The Stewards granted permission for Jockey M Ganeesh to ride 1kg over his newly declared weight, 54.5kgs due to this error.

The start of this race was delayed when WONDERFUL SURPRISE (App WK Lee) proved difficult to be loaded into the barriers.

Trainer MP Thwaites will be advised that the Stewards placed a warning on this horse and he must improve its barrier manners, or action may be taken against the gelding.

Upon jumping, D’GREAT VICTORY (R Olechea) shifted out, inconveniencing WONDERFUL SURPRISE. AIR POWER (App KC Wong) had a tendency to over-race in the early and middle stages, and got its head up on several occasions.

Rounding the turn at the 1000M, SATURDAY’S DELIGHT (SS Vanan) had to be steadied off the heels of the runners in front.

Making the turn at the 900M, WONDERFUL SURPRISE shifted outwards and bumped D’GREAT VICTORY.

Racing to the 600M, AIR POWER had to again check off the heels of GERMANIC (App P Haris) and as a result, bumped GHOST WITH LUCK (HS Gill) and lost ground.

Leaving the 300M, JERAM VILLAGE (App AK Lim) shifted in momentarily resulting in the rider having to stop and straighten, and continued to shift in for the remainder part of the event.

Following the running of the event, Jockeys J Low and J De Souza, the riders BABY BRUCE and D’GREAT ERA respectively, reported that their horses raced greenly.

App WK Lee who rode his 10th winner on WONDERFUL SURPRISE in this race, would only be entitled to claim 3kgs allowance as from Monday, 4 April 2016.

The Stewards questioned App AK Lim, in the presence of his Master, Trainer WC Lim, as to the racing tactics that were adopted on the favourite, JERAM VILLAGE.

Trainer WC Lim informed the Stewards that he was disappointed with the run as the gelding had worked well throughout the week and expected a forward showing in today’s event.

Trainer WC Lim further explained that he believed that the 59kgs may have contributed to the disappointing performance, and believed that JERAM VILLAGE stood in the barrier for too long due to the delay and this may have contributed to the disappointing performance. App AK Lim agreed with his Trainer’s comments.

The Stewards noted their comments for future reference.

RACE 5 (R446) CLASS 3 – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A)

Trainers L Moy and R Jensen were both fined RM100/- under MRA Rule 65(5)(c) for failing to produce the declared colours on BLACK FIERY (R Olechea) and PITSTOP (App AM Aizat) respectively.

Upon jumping, NOBLE FOUR (SS Vanan) and CRAZY TIMES (App AK Lim) bumped heavily.

SPEED FLYING (App SU Lim) was momentarily inconvenienced approaching the 1000M when attempting a run to the inside of PITSTOP when PITSTOP rolled in marginally. MIA (C Goon), BLACK FIERY and NATURE SPIRIT (Y Aify) all raced wide throughout the event. Passing the 200M, COLIN THE FIRTH (App S Zulfikri) shifted in under pressure, inconveniencing SEGAR THE BEST (HS Gill).

The Stewards adjourned an inquiry into the tactics that were adopted on GHOST EMPEROR as Jockey M Zaidi had left the course.

The Stewards questioned Jockey J Low and Trainer R Lines into the reasons why Jockey J Low, the rider of SEA WORLD, was slow to begin and lost his off side iron upon jumping which resulted in SEA WORLD missing the start.

Jockey J Low stated that the gelding threw its head in the air upon jumping which resulted in him becoming unbalanced and losing his iron, and it took several strides to regain it and as a result, lost ground in this incident.

Jockey J Low further stated that the gelding has not raced for several months, and was very fresh en route to the barriers and upon completion of the event.

Trainer R Lines agreed with his Jockey’s comments. The Stewards noted their comments for future reference.

Acting on the provisions of MRA Rule 48(5), the Stewards deferred the commencement of Jockey J De Souza’s suspension.

He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 10 April 2016 and to expire on 17 April 2016, both dates inclusive.

He was advised of his Right of Appeal (5:25pm).

RACE 9 (R450) CLASS 5 – 1600M (LONG COURSE A)

Upon jumping, KIM PROTECTOR (App AM Aizat) jumped outwards and AGELESS (App SU Lim) jumped inwards resulting in ENGLISH DREAM (M Wepner) and FLY NOW (S Sandana) being tightened for room and NANA (App Z Khairil) being severely checked by its rider, losing some ground.

Approaching the 250M, AGELESS (App SU Lim) shifted inwards under pressure resulting in ENGLISH DREAM (M Wepner) being checked by its rider.

The Stewards adjourned an inquiry into this incident to a date to be fixed. SOUTH EMPEROR was caught racing wide throughout the event.

The Stewards questioned App Z Khairil and Trainer S Hamilton as to the racing tactics that were adopted on NANA, one of the favourite supported horses in today’s event .

App Z Khairil stated that after being severely checked upon jumping, he lost his position and found himself at the rear of the field.

He further stated that approaching the 1000M, he elected to move to a 3 wide position to improve to attempt to catch the leading horses and urge the mare until the 600M.

He further informed the Stewards that he placed NANA under pressure over the final 400M, however, it failed to respond to his riding.

Trainer S Hamilton explained that she expected a forward showing from NANA and it did carry stable support in today’s event and was disappointed with the performance, however, believed the fast pace of the event and the work the mare had to do during the middle stages may have tolled on the mare at the end of the race.

The Stewards, after viewing the official patrol film and acting on their own observations, noted their comments for future reference and took no action.
