RACE 1 (R434) CLASS 5 – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A)

Upon jumping, ACME (R Burnett) shifted out and inconvenienced KIM SALUTE (App AM Aizat). FLYING AHEAD (R Olechea) was slow to begin.

KING OF SEAL (App A Zaimuddin) jumped with its head in the air and had to be restrained by its rider shortly after the start. BLACK AHEAD (App SU Lim) had a tendency to race fiercely in the early stages and got its head up on numerous occasions throughout the event.

As a result of this incident, FLYING AHEAD was inconvenienced and TARAMIS (J Low) had to be checked approaching the 1000M.

Approaching the 500M, TRUE HERITAGE (App AK Lim) had to be momentarily eased off the heels of BLACK AHEAD.

Over the final 200M, KING OF SEAL shifted inwards when being ridden by its rider and momentarily inconvenienced SAGAR’S EXPRESS (App P Haris).

App A Zaimuddin, the rider of KING SEAL, was shown the official patrol film of the incident and reminded of his obligation to exercise greater care when shifting ground under similar circumstances in future or stronger action would be taken against his license.

The Stewards took into consideration his limited riding experience.

Following the running of the event, App P Haris, the rider of SAGAR’S EXPRESS, reported that his saddle slipped backwards from the 400M, placing him at a disadvantage.

The Stewards questioned Jockey R Olechea, the rider of FLYING AHEAD, into the tactics that were adopted on the gelding.

He explained that he was riding to instructions to settle the horse at the rear of the field and stick to the running rail and try to gain an inside run in the home straight.

This was confirmed by the official patrol film, however, the Stewards were concerned why he failed to ride to the end of the race.

Jockey Olechea explained that he believed he did ride to the finishing line, however, upon viewing the official patrol film, it was established that he stopped riding 4 strides prior to the post and for this reason, he finished in 5 th placing.

At the conclusion of an Inquiry, Jockey R Olechea pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(6) in that he failed to ride his horse out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stewards.

He was fined RM1000/- and was advised of his Right of Appeal. The Stewards questioned Jockey Y Aify and Trainer A Scott into the disappointing performance of MILITARY STAR in today’s event.

Jockey Y Aify explained that the gelding raced well throughout the event, however, he placed him under pressure in the home straight, and it raced flat, and did not respond to his riding over the final 250M.

Trainer A Scott reported that in MILITARY STAR’s last start, the gelding became dry-coated and she believed that today’s fast early pace may have contributed to the gelding failing to run over the concluding stages.

The Stewards noted their comments for future reference. A postrace veterinary examination of MILITARY STAR revealed no significant finding.

RACE 3 (R436) CLASS 4 – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A)

Due to the Handicapper’s error, the weight on GOLDHILL PRINCESS (J De Souza) was incorrectly given out as 55kgs when in fact it should be 55.5kgs.

The Stewards, acting on the provisions of MRA Rule 9(1), amended the weight, informed all connections and a public announcement was made to that effect.

GHOST GENERAL (App A Zaimuddin) jumped awkwardly. FULL MEANING (Lou Ho) jumped awkwardly resulting in the rider becoming unbalanced. WOW (M Wepner) had a tendency to over-race in the early stages.

Approaching the 1000M mark, FULL MEANING (Lou Ho) was disappointed for a run between KEEPITCONFIDENTIAL (App S Zulfikri) which rolled out marginally and JUST VITAL (App AM Aizat) shifted in away from NINE POINT (H Bukhari) and as a result, FULL MEANING had to be checked by its rider.

Post-race veterinary examinations of GOLDHILL PRINCESS and GHOST GENERAL revealed that both horses returned with dorsal displacement of the soft palate.

GHOST GENERAL which was distanced, will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again for having a poor performance.

The Stewards questioned Jockey F Yap into the riding tactics that were adopted on MR EPIC in today’s event in particular why he led the event by such a large margin.

Jockey F Yap said that his instructions were to lead and after riding the horse vigourously from the barriers, it began to over-race and he was unable to relax the gelding despite his efforts.

He also informed the Stewards that he was not aware that he was so far in front of the field.

The Stewards, after viewing the official patrol film and acting on their own observations, noted his comments for future reference.

RACE 4 (R437) CLASS 5 – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A)

The start of this race was delayed for several minutes when LITTLE LION (J Low) proved difficult to be loaded into the barriers.

Trainer BT Lim was advised that the Stewards placed a warning on this horse and he must improve its barrier manners, or action may be taken against the gelding.

RUBICON (R Olechea) was slow to begin. LITTLE LION reared as the gates opened and jumped awkwardly.

Upon jumping, DEVIL BULL (App S Shafrizal) shifted out abruptly and inconvenienced AGUERO (S Sandana) and GHOST AFFAIR (HS Gill).

Rounding the turn at the 1000M, RAINBOW EASY (App AK Lim) raced keenly and as a result, clipped the heels of LANDING NORTH (Lou Ho) and blundered.

LANDING NORTH, KIM ABILITY (F Yap) and LITTLE LION all raced wide throughout the event.

Approaching the 200M, NO MONEY NO TALK (App S Zulfikri) shifted in under pressure despite the efforts of its rider resulting in GHOST AFFAIR (HS Gill) having to be momentarily eased by its rider.

Over the final 100M of the event, AGUERO (S Sandana) was held up for a clear run.

Following the running of the event, Jockey HS Gill, the rider of GHOST AFFAIR, had a tendency to race greenly.

GORDON G (J Low) jumped awkwardly and shortly after the start, shifted inwards and inconvenienced SUPER GOOD (Lou Ho).

TREASUREINTHEHEART (App SU Lim) jumped awkwardly. Shortly after the start, GHOST HANA (HS Gill) shifted outwards and inconvenienced TREASUREINTHEHEART and GHOST ACE (App P Haris).

MAGICAL BANKER (R Olechea) had a tendency to race fiercely in the early stages.

TREASUREINTHEHEART was caught racing wide in the early and middle stages.

Approaching the 1000M, GORDON G began to over-race, got its head up and had to be eased off the heels of SUPER GOOD and lost ground.

Approaching the 500M, GHOST HANA (HS Gill) had a tendency to lay inwards and as a result, HAPPY FLYING (J De Souza) had to be eased by its rider and lost some ground. GHOST ACE raced wide throughout the event.

The gelding which was beaten 19 ¼ lengths, will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again for having a poor performance.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, App AK Lim, the rider of DELTA WING, in the presence of his Master, Trainer WC Lim, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding DELTA WING approaching the 200M mark in this race, he shifted in when insufficiently clear of GORDON G (J Low) which had to be checked by its rider and as a consequence, lost its rightful position.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App AK Lim’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty.

Acting on the provisions of MRA Rule 48(5), the Stewards deferred the commencement of App AK Lim’s suspension.

He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 10 April 2016 and to expire on 17 April 2016, both dates inclusive.

He was advised of his Right of Appeal (4:55pm).

Q NINE MASTER (App A Zaimuddin) and NEW YORK CITY (H Bukhari) jumped awkwardly.

SUPER FIVE (HS Gill) and KIM DIVA (App S Zulfikri) both raced wide over the final 900M.

Approaching the 600M, Q NINE MASTER had to be eased off the heels of DROUGHT (App AK Lim) and shifted out to gain a clear run.

The Stewards questioned Jockey HS Gill into the riding tactics that were adopted on SUPER FIVE in today’s event.

Jockey HS Gill explained that his instructions were to be mid-to-back which were confirmed by the Trainer’s Instruction Form and that making the home turn, he had to shift out wider to gain a clear run.

Jockey HS Gill also reported that SUPER FIVE is better suited to longer distances than today’s 1600M and would be advising the Trainer.

The Stewards, after viewing the official patrol films and acting on their own observations, noted his comments, however, would be monitoring his future rides on this gelding.

A post-race veterinary examination of SUPER FIVE revealed no significant finding.

The Stewards questioned Trainer T Jackman and App S Zulfikri into the disappointing performance of KIM DIVA.

Trainer T Jackman stated that from a wide barrier, App S Zulfikri was unable to get closer in than 3 wide throughout the event.

App Zulfikri stated that he placed the mare under pressure at the 400M but it failed to respond to his riding.

The Stewards reminded Trainer T Jackman in relation to the Rules regarding in and out running, and advised him to report back to the Stewards if there is anything amiss with the mare on returning to his stable.

RACE 7 (R440) CLASS 5 – 1600M (LONG COURSE A)

Trainer BT Lim approached the Stewards in relation to the change of riding tactics that will be adopted on LIM’S MIRAGE (App A Zaimuddin) in today’s event.

Trainer BT Lim explained that he instructed App A Zaimuddin to ride LIM’S MIRAGE off the pace, try to get a midfield position, sit quietly until the top of the straight and to do his best.

MARATHON LAD (App AM Aizat), JET COSMO (App P Deneskumar) and KING FAALCON (R Olechea) were all very slow to begin. YOU NEVER KNOW (LL Tai) jumped awkwardly.

At the conclusion of an inquiry today, after viewing the official patrol films of this event and considering the evidence tendered, the Stewards acting on their own observations, found App A Zaimuddin, the rider of LIM’S MIRAGE, in the presence of his Master, Trainer BT Lim, guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards.

The particulars of the charge were that: 1. He failed to shift out at approximately the 450M mark when there was a clear run on the outside and he elected to remain to the inside where there was no clear room;

2. He failed to shift to the outside at approximately the 200M to gain a clear run when there was an opportunity to do so; and

3.He failed to show sufficient vigour in particular over the final 100M of the event. In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App A Zaimuddin’s mitigating factors, his limited riding experience which is less than 20 rides and his submissions on penalty.

Acting on the provisions of MRA Rule 48(5), the Stewards deferred the commencement of App A Zaimuddin’s suspension.

He was suspended from riding in races for a period of three (3) months with effect from 10 April 2016 and to expire on 9 July 2016, both dates inclusive.

He was advised of his Right of Appeal (6:20pm).

Upon jumping, DYNAMIC TRIO (R Olechea) shifted outwards and inconvenienced NIGHT DEMON (App AK Lim). RUNFORIT (S Sandana) raced wide over the final 1000M.

CALLMESOON (App WK Lee) was held up for a clear run entering the front straight, and failed to get a clear run inside the 400M and ran home well.

Approaching the 200M mark, NIGHT DEMON (App AK Lim) was held up for a clear run to the inside of DYNAMIC TRIO (R Olechea) and had a tendency to lay inwards and had to momentarily ease out over that gelding’s heels to gain clear running.

The Stewards adjourned an inquiry into the reasons why App S Shafrizal, the rider of ELEVEN UP, was dislodged at approximately the 1200M at a date to be fixed.

App S Shafrizal was exempted from weighing in and was subsequently sent to hospital for further observation.
