Anthony Manton

Anthony was first taken to the races in country New South Wales Australia by his grandparents who owned horses at the time and he got the bug for racing immediately, and in particular race calling.

A keen form student Anthony started his career in the racing industry in January 2005 working for popular racing website Racenet in Sydney Australia where he wrote racebook comments and developed essential form analysis skills. In November 2005 Anthony started working for corporate bookmaker Centrebet as a form expert, setting betting markets and trading to those markets on race days, as well as working for bookmaker Con Kafataris as a bookies clerk for a number of years on track during feature race days. In 2009 Anthony took up a role with TAB Sportsbet as a form analyst and bookmaker again setting betting markets and trading on race days, a position he held until December 2011.

Anthony studied at the Max Rowley media accademy in Sydney where he learnt valuable media and broadcasting techniques which led him to also work for Australia's leading racing broadcaster Sky Racing as a presenter/host of Australian racing to an international audience.

All the while Anthony was pursuing his ambition as a Race Caller and commenced calling races at country meetings throughout New South Wales often travelling long distances just for the opportunity. Wth the support of well known Sydney race caller Mark Shean Anthony often called the Sydney barrier trials which gained him plenty of exposure particularly on racing channel TVN. Anthony gained further opportunities and progressed to calling popular TAB meetings, and eventually took up his role of commentator with the Selangor Turf Club in January 2012.

In 2011 Anthony was a finalist in the John Tapp Race Calling Scholarship which acknowledges the top young race callers in Australia.

Anthony also writes weekly articles and provides tips for all Malaysian racing in The Racing Guide which is sold throughout South East Asia.

Anthony’s matter of fact calling style has been well received, he has a neutral tone to his voice that is ideal for an international audience. Since taking on his role with The Selangor Turf Club Anthony has been instrumental in building the profile and changing the perception of racing particularly in Kuala Lumpur with a fresh new approach to the coverage of racing in the area.
